I'm way more starved in my G1 cast in general. I love my Autobot MP collection so far and my choices as well but 95% of my love for G1 comes from the Decepticons and beyond the few we know we have in MP its way to one sided(at least BW seems to be keeping a healthy balance with 46 announced...so far). 36 and 29+ are near perfect for me but there is so much untapped potential literally waiting in the other faction excluding combiners even that I hope starts to change by next year and hopefully with what will eventually be 48-50. I would be a way more content with the MP line as a whole if we started seeing 13+ or 2.0, SScream 3.0 and at least the trio, Reflector, Galvatron, Blitzwing, Astrotrain and Overlord. Also add that you would not have near the license cost or problems with Decepticons like you do with Autobots! And while I think it is highly unlikely we will ever see combiners in MP I wouldn't mind it as at least a one off like Devastator. He is the most iconic, easy way to bolster the side and like others have mentioned the price is no object in this regard as I think the $$$ value would be bringing in that certain collector that like to spend $$$$ on collectables as well as your normal fan base. And would certainly be another milestone of the MP line. A fan can dream. 3 sets of double packs spread out over 18 months I see a feasible release structure to. ANND please give us Cliffjumper and Blurr to round out my fav autobots. :D :D :D

Several of my favorites are already done, but I have like 15 favorite Autobots & 15 favorite Decepticons! :D

For me to be truly 100% satisfied, I'd have an official, show-accurate (in at least robot mode anyway), Masterpiece figure of every Transformer character (both Autobot & Decepticon) from G1 seasons 1 & 2 with Blaster's first 4 tapes thrown in as well (because what's Blaster without at least a few cassettes!). The movie characters for good measure. Seasons 3 & 4 characters would be the icing for me.

Needless to say, I'm not likely to be 100% satisfied, am I?

As for the engineering challenges, Sam, you said yourself just a few posts back that even Bumblebee 2.0 is not without some hiccups. They've made some leaps since MP-1 for sure, but I think the Minibots, at the least, are likely still a tough nut to crack. Going chibi should help some, but, like you said a bit ago, at that size there's only so much you can do.

Hmm, I truly like all the characters to some degree, so I hate putting them into categories, but those 2 do kinda fall into their own grouping due to the extreme difference from their original figures. And they're not quite leaders, so I'd consider them B-listers. But I'm probably preferential to Magnus, since he & Kup were the only new Movie Autobots I really liked as a kid.

Don't forget the Insecticons, cons, cons. I want those three so bad!

Yes please for Insecticons. Seem like a no-brainer with no licencing issues to worry about. Makes me wonder what the possible reason is. Were they from Diaclone or another toy line? Maybe that has something to do with it.

I grew up watching reruns of G1 S1-2, so I'd love to get the whole cast. But I'm okay with any new figure we get. Just waiting on Jazz who is my all time favorite. Kup to go along with Hot Rod would also be nice. They were among the few I had as a child.

There was no wrong answer there, I might actually put Ironhide and Ratchet on the A-list myself, as one or both tend to show up in most modern shows and movies. Mostly I was wondering if you put Ironhide and Ratchet in the pre-Transformers category but not Ultra Magnus despite all three being done in the same cartoon-accurate style.

Insecticons were from Diaclone. I think they aren't getting a focus right now for being fairly minor and also for being bad guys.

I guess we're getting a Shackwave, though it's not what I thought it would be:

I really just want them to hurry up and release Hound. I've passed up some good deals on Fanstoys Willis in waiting for him to finish my Season 1 characters.

It’s definitely a good feeling when your favourites get the MP treatment. I’m lucky enough to have two of mine already (MP-29/29+ and MP-33), now it’s just a case of acquiring those others to make things feel a little more ‘complete’.

After Megatron v2 and Optimus Prime v3, everything is icing on the cake from me here on out.

I'm anticipating that Soundwave redo to pad out the year, the part of my brain that told me to sell all the other molds that got updated is ringing LOUD!
I don't know if I can part with MP13 as I love the flecks in his blue and the Ruby red jewel-like visor..
If he does get a + I may just take the white parts off and donate them to the OG.
I just can't picture the blue glass door looking good on him for some reason.

Starscream v3 or Rodimus V2 needs to be first.

Really surprised we haven't seen Kup with the Orion Pax remold yet.

Oh, okay, then actually, looking at it that way, I'd leave all three out of the pre-TFs grouping, since they all really deviate from their original Diaclone figure. Of course, as a show-accurate fan, I see that as a huge plus! ;)

I already sold my Starscream and Soundwave ages ago in preparation. To be fair, they were also the last Hasbro MPs I had (Acid Storm notwithstanding, since his JP release is literally identical and it makes no difference). I'm very patiently and happily waiting to get my animation accurate versions of both. My only issue is that I'm genuinely concerned how they're going to handle the Seekers going forward. I could see new Thundercracker and Skywarp, but not new coneheads - it just doesn't seem feasible, esp. since they didn't seem to sell well at all. I definitely see Ghost Starscream as more rather than less likely, though, considering how that was much more important to the animation than the toyline, as far as repaints are concerned.

Ha ha, much funny, very wow. Like... I try to be a fairly positive person and not get into these sorts of things, but there's no reason to joke about this sort of thing when it's already got such a negative sentiment on these boards, since so many people have an attachment to the toys. I'm perfectly fine having an attachment to the cartoon, because the fiction is why I even care about this franchise in the first place. If it was just about the toys, I wouldn't have bothered collecting Masterpieces or any Transformers at all. Hell, I probably wouldn't have gotten into figures period if not for TF fiction. It's fine if you don't like it. I encourage you to like whatever you like, that's how life is.

But you don't need to disparage others. And yeah, you're just joking - but a lot of people have a diehard hatred in this fandom for a lot of the stuff I like. It's not exactly fun to hear relentlessly how awful everything is when people talk about the toon accurate stuff or the beast stuff, just because it's not what they grew up with and they personally dislike it. It's a speculation thread, it's not for random discuss or making fun of people. And to be fair, it's not like this happens only in this thread, in happens in every thread, because people (not necessarily you) consistently whine that something isn't to their liking, which is a cancer in this fandom in general. Not everything has to be catered to the same people, and whether someone likes it or not, the toon accurate setup is obviously making TT money or they wouldn't be pushing that angle so hard.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree at all. People whining may be annoying at times, but I don't find it a "cancer". Not in the slightest. Obviously, I would prefer constructive criticism, but we perfectly know that not everybody is going to do that (for reasons), and pushing away people who "whine" means silence whoever don't like something and want to express it. If someone whines without any justification, you can always ignore him or respond to him and explain why he's mistaken. Stop trying to silence people by calling "cancer" something like this (this is not directed at you in particular, but to anyone who thinks this way).
Whining often sparks discussion, and discussions are what keep forums interesting and alive.
As long as there are no insults or personal attacks I don't find someone who's whining a problem at all. Especially if we're talking about a joke. And I'm saying this as someone who prefers the toon direction of the MP line and as someone who has NEVER whined in these forums.

    AAAAANNYWAY....

I’m looking forward to Tokyo Toy Show in June, it’s always exciting to see what they put on display.

I must plan a trip to Japan in the next couple years - should coincide it with one of these events...

Color me a whiner, then, for being frustrated when every time beasts or toon accuracy come up, there is literally always a vocal group who espouses how awful it is and how it would be great if we could go back in time, to when the line was cheaper and cranked out molds left and right. Sure, more characters, but... meh. As far as my use of words, I won't backpedal on it - people think that everything need be catered to them. Constructive criticism is fine and should be encouraged. "No u" type lowest common denominator criticism should be stamped out, not because criticism is unhelpful, but because it forces people to actually think about why they don't like something and espouse it without attacks on anyone else, or suggesting that something is inferior for simply existing. And before anyone says, no, Onnsake didn't do anything but make a joke - but I didn't do anything to even draw in criticism of the toon accuracy. It doesn't need to be drawn in, because people are aggressively vocal about it if they don't like it, even if it's better for TT as espoused by the fact they are continuing to do it. It is okay to not like something. It is dumb to continually and constantly reiterate, in every instance in which that thing is brought up, all of its potential faults and decry any proponents of it.

But hey, I'm a diehard BW fan, maybe I'm just salty from the "trukk not munky" nonsense which still goes on to this day, what with all the talk of "clogging up the line" and what have you. I don't feel a need to continue this, and respectfully we can agree to disagree. I'm not suggesting anyone be silenced, either - and if you feel I suggested otherwise, well, it wasn't my intent.

Since TTS was mentioned, do we expect to see a new exclusive? Typically they've rolled out a new one at most of them, yeah? I don't remember if they did in 2018 or not, or if the exclusive was just a non-MP, but it would be nice if we finally got black Ironhide or something. I don't really collect Diaclone but it seems like out of all the various Diaclone-era toys that's the one that people want the most.

With prices now I think Tokyo Toy Show exclusives are a thing of the past. They can more easily do an exclusive repaint of a Siege character or some Studio Series release.

I'd love to coincide a trip to Japan with the release of some long-awaited MP, like Jazz, just to actually go and buy one on release date. And obviously to visit Japan too! ;)

Things were very quiet last year in the lead up to Tokyo Toy Show, with a random advert for MP-29+ and MP-36+ at the beginning of May. I'm not expecting any news for the next couple of months. Maybe some photos of Blackarachnia or Hound in Figure King, but maybe not.
