After seeing these new painted images, I just want to mention how ridiculously good this looks. Any nitpicks about the head or chest I have only exist because this is a KO building off of an existing model.

This has clearly reached levels of accuracy I would've never thought a movie prime would get to. Imagine the reaction if this was what MPM4 looked like when it was revealed. I don't think there'd be many denying that it was the most accurate transforming movie figure at that time, and I was even blown away by the actual MPM4.

I will likely be waiting for a later release to make sure there's no issues, but this will definitely be a centerpiece in my collection eventually.

Movie prime has certainly been the most formative transformers design in my life, and this is certainly the best rendition of it so far.

TL;DR: DAMN, this thing is impressive.

It is accurate though. I don't hate the black windows, would prefer them smoked as some people are saying as well.

I still think the windows should've used this kind of plastic.

Right, both are accurate however one forgoes the other in each mode. Smoked windows are a compromise for both.

Slightly tinted/smoked windows are better, no to the dark windows for me. It is easier to put a black decal to a clear window than vice versa.

A couple of things I want to point out:

First off, people keep saying they changed a few things since the grey prototype (shape of the abs, the way the windows fold up, thickness of the hinges on the chest, etc). The thing is, that wasn't a prototype, that was a heavy custom of the MPM-04 coated in primer. There were several revisions before the first prototype we saw (the multicoloured test shot).

There are reasons for the revisions. Most notably, the chest hinges were likely thickened in order for it to survive repeated transformation.

There were *two* gray models. One is, as you said, just a modified MPM-4 with a coat of primer.

The second gray model was a final-size 3D-printed prototype.

The easiest tell is the transforming tires. If there's no tread, it's the modded MPM-4. If there's tread, it's the printed prototype.

Rainbow-Prime was a test of the injection molds, and does indeed show a few differences from the previous printed proto, likely to facilitate the casting process.

I was waiting to preorder this prime based on the rounded-abs prototype but the changes made after that grey prototype made it worse. Now I will not preorder it and wait for reviews... I am disappointed, this would have been my definitive '07 movie prime.

I was almost in the same boat but I just couldn't resist and pre ordered, the back of this figure is just absolutely gorgeous to me. I'm still unsure why the tried to square up the truck hood forcing those square abs, it seemed like an easy thing to just leave it as it was in the original mpm4

Yeah, the back is amazing, and it'd Probably be my main gripe with the original mpm figure besides the arms. The one thing I hated about the original mpm figure was that the legs are torso looked so good, yet the back and the arms, to a lesser extent looked atrocious. I love that they finally found a way to remedy those problems.

The convertable ion cannons take me back to my childhood, cause I had that old rotf Voyager optimus with the convertable gas tank cannons. The nostalgia man

Some people get non production runs and do reviews on those, which I don't mind...but sometimes the end product is well enough different. I'll post a review...in June...whenever it gets to me, maybe July here's hoping there's no delays in production and delivery services. :p
