Hi guys, as usual Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast gave me an advance copy of a Transformers TCG pack to review on my blog, this time the Devastator Pack from Rise of the Combiners. And as usual, as far as I know I'm only allowed to review it properly on my blog, and as usual I am cheating a bit by slightly bending the rules and posting a bunch of pics here Anyway, hopefully the admins will do their usual and turn it into a news story or something to share more details. In the meantime enjoy the pics and I will say the Devastator pack plays unlike any of the other Combiners, comes with a ton of exclusive cards and THE TOWER CARD IS THE KEY TO WINNING WITH THIS DECK! MORE INFO ABOUT THE DEVASTATOR PACK CAN BE FOUND HERE .
Thank you for the review! I was looking forward to a review to find out about the reprinted cards. What does the back of the Tower card look like? I assume it is the same as a regular Battle Card? The amount of new cards aside, have you tested the deck yet? If yes, how does it play? Is it balanced? Does it feel as good as the regular Metroplex Deck? Regarding the reprints: - Could you post the exact ratio on the individual cards? - Do they spot the Wave 2A designation as well?
Having gotten one of these myself from Hasbro, the back of the card has cross-well art on it, and the reprint cards had Wave 1 and Wave 2 designations on it.
Thanks, Aaron! Boy, that will be fun to put in storage... since I intend to sort them by wave. Are the counters the same as the one sold with the Starter and Metroplex deck or did they change those up?
Glad you enjoyed it When I get home from work I'll check the ratio of the individual cards. You get 3 each of the exclusive cards and 2 to 3 of each of the cards from Wave 1 & 2 but I can't remember which cards you get two of and which you get three. Yep the Tower Card is the same size as the regular battle cards. I've had a bit of a play and it's lots of fun but haven't played with it enough yet to give a proper account. I'll yell out when I do No they are the same. I think they have included counters because you will need a ton to put on your Tower Card. Apologies, I'd had a look and hadn't seen a Devastator thread. Next time I'll look harder as I try not to start a new thread if one already exists.
Finally played around with the Deck enough, both with and against, to give a proper account of the gameplay Obviously I go into a lot more detail regarding each point in the blog, and with associated pics, but these are the main tips & tricks I found useful: *Get Scrapper into Robot Mode *Get Bonecrusher in the mix *Flip Scavenger next *Keep the others in vehicle mode until KO’ed or needed *If any character gets KO’ed in vehicle mode, flip them at the first opportunity. *Build that Tower to at least 6 before combining! *Getting your Tower to 10 before combing is often unrealistic. *If your opponent makes a Combiner first, get combining! *Keep track of your Builders Tools and Constructicon Enigma Cards *If you get your Tower to 10 – get ready to bask in victory! __________________
It sure is! My source got them in as well. I ordered asap. I should have them here by Wendesday hopefully!
The store I bought a box of ROTC from didn't get the Devastator starter in yesterday. Hopefully, it will be in next week in time for the store's 2nd anniversary sale.
I am absolutely thrilled they put 3 of each card in. In other games, I have seen them with a 3 limit per deck but only put 2 in the sets so you have to buy two sets.
