Did you miss the news sites that covered the end of the last continuity, because it was pretty well noticed beyond this site

(This is a copypaste of my comment from another thread, im reusing it here so i can give my thoughts on a more fresh and relevant thread)
1:I still think it's ridiculous that in so much time no murder ever happened on Cybertron itself
2:So Brainstorm is truly dead, one thing to notice:In the old continuity, everyone had bigger plot armor, killing a cybertronian was hard, Megatron made a hole with the fusion cannon in Starscream's torso and he still survived, Sunstreaker became only a head and still survived
Here, Brainstorm seems to be a little impaled or shot and yet he is dead, much more fragile
    3:Rubble doesn't seem much shocked
4:Chromia is the most active and fleshed ou character in this preview, she seems a little hot headed and distrustful, she doesn't want anyone to know about this, keeping the idolized image of Cybertron
and.....she takes jabs at Prowl, Primusdammit you really couldn't hold yourselves huh IDW ?
5: Prowl didn't do much here, barely talked, was treated like a wimp when he did nothing wrong(im not joking, Windblade got angry because Prowl asked if the Voin was licensed)

Honestly though, if Rubble becomes Rumble I will be thoroughly nonplussed. Just seems too obvious at this point.

Maybe Brainstorm isn\'t actually dead? I mean he\'s a headmaster, right? Chest shot wouldn\'t kill a headmaster.

There is no indication that he is a headmaster here and besides, by Windblade, Chromia and Prowl comments, he really is dead

So obvious that it didn't even occur to me that they'd go that way... because it would be too obvious. Plus, Frenzy is Rumble's twin brother, so where's he?

Doesn't it, though? I mean, love it or hate it, the last few years of IDW have been one of the most significant and critically-lauded runs in the history of Transformers fiction.

If the incoming writer apparently hasn't even bothered to read it, it doesn't say much for their interest in Transformers, in comics generally, or in basic professionalism.

Not by everyone, in fact, i think few
and i think Ruckley is part of these few because by his comments on the last issue(far as i remember)he really liked what was being done on those last years

No, really, actually quite a few... especially bearing in mind that Transformers has traditionally been an unloved stepchild in the domain of 'serious' comics criticism. James Roberts' run on MTMTE in particular was probably the most attention anyone paid to Transformers comics since the Dreamwave days.

Some of that may coincide with the spate of comic-derived new toy designs, the rise in interest due to the Hollywood movies, and a new following overlapping from the succession of animated series that managed to feel like (marginally) more than toy commercials... but it was what it was. Like I said, it doesn't matter if you liked it or not. It was significant.

I haven't been following Ruckley's comments about coming on board... but as a 53-year-old Scottish writer of medieval fantasy, I do wonder if he's really immersed enough in Transformers 'culture' to deliver the goods for this fandom.

1:But you also said it was critically-lauded, i think divisive and polemical would be more proper
2:It doesn't matter much to me if he is immersed enough in TF as long as he proves to be a good writer......which unfortunately seems to not be the case, i could be wrong but the first impression isn't much good

I have to disagree that that's a bad thing. If this comic is going to succeed it needs everything, let alone the writer, to be completely divorced from the last twelve years.

Seeing who is the dead Transformer has just vindicated my first instinct to pass on this series.

So? There's also Optimus, and Megatron, and Bumblebee, and Prowl, and Chromia.....

It's still Transformers, they can and will use a lot of the same characters. But how Windblade or anyone else is portrayed shouldn't be influenced by the previous run in any way.
