Does the sector 7 dam comic tie into 2007?

So does Lorenzo actually talking in his real voice make you become friends with him?

This is in response to the recent Lorenzo news. Essentially he called the film a spin-off, a prequel, and a reboot all at the same time, which completely contradicts everything he has recently said and what we've been told. He also said they don't know what they're doing next.

Hasbro at last years Toy Fair: The franchise will be reset after Bumblebee

Hasbro at this years Toy Fair: Bumblebee was the beginning of a new storytelling universe

Viacom CEO: Bumblebee reset the franchise

Lorenzo literally earlier this week with GameSpot: Bumblebee was a reboot and the sequel will be in the new timeline we set up

Lorenzo today: Like i said, he basically called it a new storytelling universe, a prequel, and a spin-off all at the same time

The actual film: The Bayverse always had contradictions but these were completely blatant, and we KNOW what was re-shot to distance from that continuity. The movie came off as obviously being made at first as a prequel but then being reworked into a reboot once TLK happened and they realized they can't continue with the Bay stuff anymore.

It seems very obvious to me that Hasbro clearly wants to reboot it, they've said it twice now. Someone at Paramount must want to after all the re-shoots to make the film come off as being in a different universe. Lorenzo is constantly contradicting everything that he says and Hasbro says, but if you ask me the one we should believe is Hasbro given they have creative control now, and because of Lorenzo's track record of being wrong/lying.

I'm just getting frustrated with getting different contradictory news about this franchise every 2 days. Was the Toy Fair statement an official statement to us? If it wasn't they need to say something soon, because the general public is getting confused as to what they are doing with this franchise.

EDIT: Just realized this got moved from a new thread to here. Carry on, lol.

Try not to get too frustrated. Believe those with the highest authority over the Transformers franchise and show a history of accurate messaging; it’s a reboot.

You could simply not worry about it. I mean, I don't mean to be flippant here, but there's nothing any of us can do about it. They're going to make more movies, this much we know. What form those movies take is not our problem. It sounds like they don't have a firm direction yet, so it's no surprise we're getting all these contradictory statements.

While I agree with you on not worrying about it, I think there is only one person resistant to the change and contradicting himself and that’s Mr. Di Bonaventura. I get it you have spent the last 10 years pretty much being in charge of the live action Transformers movie franchise and then one day you are not, it must be a tough adjustment. Nevertheless now what Hasbro say s and to a slightly lesser extent Paramount /Viacom says goes. And they say it’s a reboot focusing more on story, characters, and basic Transformers concepts

He's still an executive producer. He's still in charge. At most I'd guess there's a Hasbro representative who gets to sign off on everything, but Lorenzo is still the guy who gets the money together and gets the people together. People act like the king got knocked off his throne, but what really happened is they just decided to pull up a few more thrones next to his. He's still sitting there.

Only way to get rid of Lorenzo is the next sequel the TLK must totally flop.

Knocked off?? No. Has less independence due to Hasbro’s greater control? Yes. Therefore he has less total power.

They have no idea themselves. At this point I say we wait until they've solidified the direction this series is going to take. I don't really think there is a "right" or "wrong" answer right now, because the filmmakers themselves haven't decided yet. As for what they will end up deciding...it could go either way, honestly.

It seems to be up in the air as to whether it's even a sequel to TLK, or just another big movie.

    • Bumblebee turning into the exact '77 Camaro at the end.
    • Giving us the back story on why he is unable to talk in the Bayverse.
    • “Every hero has a beginning” was used on everything.
    • Bobby Bolivia used in the original trailer, he was also used in the trailer for the Blu-ray release only a month ago.
    • The bonus features include a comic that ties directly to Transformers 2007.
    • Simmons is listed as “Young Simmons” in the end credits.
    • John Cena talks about NBE-1.
Thanks MV95 for the additional ties. My last point - even when you do accept that clearly the movie was written and intended as a prequel and that they simply changed their minds on the direction of the franchise after its release, not to mention TLK’s reception, “what we got in theatres” in the form of the above examples are not “tenuous” connections, at all. Even the yet-to-be-released Blu-ray includes extras that explicitly tie Bumblebee to TF1-5. And dvd bonus features do count when your point is that they are no longer supporting or promoting the prequel idea.

I'm probably the only person who agrees with you. Bumblebee is such a bad movie. Its laughable.
Especially the writing. At least the Bay films are serious. Bumblebee is like a Disney movie for toddlers.
