If you can solve a more complicated design, then you can solve a lesser one.

The problem could be different, of course, but my point stands true. UT can make almost impossible designs, why couldn't TT / Hasbro?!

If UT is so great why didn't they do movie 1 Megs or any of the 2007 cast?

You sound like I am putting UT above TT when It wasn't my intention, I used UT Dragoon as an example of what can be done. There are even better 3P designs for Bumblebee from the Bumblebee's movie that blows the official out of the water. AGAIN, I am not saying MPM 8 is bad, what I am trying to say is they could have done it better.

Because they are avoiding competition with Takara, they wouldn't touch the first movie bots.

First all, TLK Megatron might look complicated at first sight, but 2007 Megs is definitely more of a nightmare. We can clearly see certain parts of robot mode become certain parts of jet mode, e.g. 2007 has much bigger double-decked wings sprang from his back, giant tail transformed from three little prongs on his butt, and nose extended from his neck. The transformation in the movie is undoubtedly cheating.
I'm not saying better backpack can't be made, but stability and durability must be taken into account as well. _20190321_083304.JPG At least the current product has a rather screen-accurate backpack (the overall shape is correct) and clean limbs. I for one will always go for kibble-less, shapely limbs instead of sacrificed, squared limbs.

All this discourse is great, but let’s also not forget that there’s very well may be some screws on the back that you could just unscrew and remove pieces you didn’t want. Not a grand solution, but it’s something. Idk if it can actually be removed, but there’s got to be screws somewhere

Any more complex and the price would’ve gone too high like MP44. He seems like a sacrifice of plastic for paint and complexity because DAMN he’s huge.

Wasn't $130 the markup price for Ironhide? The retail price was only $100.

Eh depends on store, but still, he cost the same as prime which honestly made me very much put off from buying him.

    Pretty neat I guess.

Like all Cybetronian modes, they can kinda forgo a lot to give more attention to supreme accuracy in bot mode, as done here.

That said, it was certainly a bland transformation with very little "wow" moments that are usually synonymous with MPs.

I mean, those legs are basically $150 Combiner Wars legs. Lol

Gets the job done I suppose.

Excellent! Bigger masterpiece with simple transformation don't have to come at high price ( looking at you, G1 Grimlock V2)

Personally, I don’t care about transformation. As long as it yields an accurate and well made robot mode, and accurate vehicle mode as a bonus, that’s all that matters to me. If the character’s transformation cheats, then the figure can too; trying not to cheat just for the sake of saying “look it doesn’t cheat” is stupid. That’s how we ended up with MPM Prime’s less accurate chest compared to the leader class. Obviously, if it can avoid cheating and still be accurate, that’s great. But between both options, I prefer accuracy or solidity of the figure

This guy looks accurate in both modes. Hell if they could have cheated even more somehow to shrink the backpack wings, I’d condone it

Those stores were just marking them up. Those same stores marked up MPM Bumblebee to $100 when he only cost $80. In reality, the price structure should have been $80 for Bumblebee, $100 Ironhide, and $120 for Prime which is a pretty fair pricing structure—basically those were prices you would have saw in TRU in the US if they were still around. I believe Amazon still has those prices when the pre-orders launch.

By the way, this doesn't discredit your argument about MPM Megs. I still believe the price you will pay for him is justified if you account for his size, features, and accessories he comes with.

In Canadian dollars, sold directly by TRU, the pricing was $130 for Bumblebee, $130 for Optimus, and $150 for Ironhide. The prices definitely weren’t placed with that kind of structure in mind
