My only real comment is that I would have never dreamed that after holding my first MP in 2007, that someday I'd have a choice of 3 MP Menasors.

The wait for this and their Superion is excruciating.

We seem to forget that don't we. That moment happened for me with MP-1 and never thinking it would go farther but dreaming and then seeing the initial carbots and Soundwave and finding EmGo videos for Scoria. This can't last forever so that is why I want as many companies as possible to keep pushing the lineup out to cover through Victory and the leader in Zone. I will have plenty of MPs for which I will never have owned the G1 toy but now get to own the definitive version.

We need a moderator to update the thread since we now know the name is "Marauder" for Menasor.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all 3 companies are new to the combiner game (not sure about DX9 as I don't follow them). The stability, fit and finish of the gestalt mode will separate these companies apart. If the individual bots are good but the combined mode is a floppy mess, that's a fail. All 3 companies will need to crank up the QC tolerances when it comes to combined mode. I can already hear that ol' sweet squeaky sound of Fans Toys when manipulating Marauder's joints.

This can't be overstated. I've had these moments of pure awe in recent years as well. Those of us super fans of G1 transformers should stop and see once in a while how amazing this toy thing that is happening around us the last 4 or 5 years is. Choices seem endless limited only by pocket books and impatience to get it all now! I just love it.

I wonder what Fanstoys needs to do to get to releasing 1 figure a month? I wonder if the community can help them get there?

Buy less of their product. That makes sure each run will be at most 2000 each.

HA!…..I didn't even notice the names, I love it...…"You got the one Snowman I'm eastbound and down!!!"

(but in this case they might have a short way to go, but a long time to get there.)

I would love to know what order they plan on doing the different teams (at least at this point in time) ,but I don't blame for not announcing it.

That would probably have the opposite effect. Smaller production runs would probably make the factory less inclined to give them time because there is less money in it for the factory.

No, they'll make it up by releasing more figures in a year.

    What does it matter:
    5 figures x 6000 (run size) = 30000
    vs
    10 figures x 3000 = 30000
    or
    15 figures x 2000 = 30000

They are all 30K. Why should the factory care? FansToys will care, but not the factory.

Because that's way more work for the factory. Changing a production line is not like changing your shoes. That cost being spread over a smaller production run means the figures would cost a lot more.

Contracts can cover for it but the main difference is setup time and costs. Schedule targets are a big part of performance clauses as well. No these are not A1 surface precision car parts. Instead these are high toleranced to the millimeter many and small precision parts that have to flex and move. All molds are different and have different pressures and ejection temps and all of this stuff has to be dialed in. It also affects assembly and part rejection quotas. A higher production run lowers factory cost because of economies of scale. Therefore 15 vs. 5 may seem the same in the long run but there is a lot of buried costs in there that is not always visible and not everything is a quick changeover, especially with high precision parts and complicated assemblies. If I remember correctly I think FT does runs of 2-3K and not 6K but I could be wrong. They certainly do 2nd and 3rd runs on figures but usually with significant time lapses on the later runs. ie Dibots.

Another issue, to us FT is reliable but if this factory is scheduling time on a quarterly basis and has regular customers with 10-50K plus job orders do you really want to allot time to a company like that over seizing one of these bigger orders. To assure quality FT has likely had to cut lower margin deals with factories like this where they are the small fish. We simply don't have the specifics of their business to know all of this.

Do we know for sure every single detail? No, but at least yours truly knows something about the Chinese economy, which the rest of you don't seem to know. The Chinese economy is IN RECESSION. Confirmed by crash in car sales, Fedex shipment, layoffs in previously hot Internet businesses like Tencent, retraction of job offers from new graduates, etc. Heck export numbers are also down just to put icing in the cake. Factories are wanting for business now. They are probably all begging in front of dalianjj's house now for business.

Jesus, some of you think there are only a handful of factories in China!
They are the manufacturer to the world.
