So... for reference, how tall is this guy relative to MP-10? I know HasTak says 11 inches, but it looks a lot taller in the pics that were posted at that recent toy fair.

Do we have any pics of the underside of the jet mode?

There's a bunch of underside shots in the NYTF gallery.

As for the height, he's been shown standing behind Siege Voyagers (~6" tall), and being pretty much exactly twice as tall as them.

I freaking hate all the kibbling and over the top detail on these Siege figures. Without that, they're some really stunning designs that really nicely bridges the gap between the cheapo shelf-hanging stuff and MP. With the added detail they are just so insanely busy...
Having said that, I am still really tempted to pick up this Skyfire (or Jetfire, ow whatever the hell they're calling him) as an MP alt mode display piece.

Phoenix is glorious as my bot mode Skyfire but I don't really want to double dip at that price for another one just for alt mode. And given recent trends, I shudder to think what Takara would charge if they ever did a proper MP Skyfire...
But this could fill that spot nicely. I just need to work out how easy it would be to smooth out the greeblies. Maybe sand and file down a bunch of the surfaces and otherwise coat with some filler and then hit him with a glossy paint job...
    It could be possible...

If there's one thing I'm wondering right now, it's what those two little flaps on his chest vents do. Landing gear is obviously out of the question since we've seen where it is at the Toy Fair and the transformation doesn't really allow landing gear to be in the chest, so maybe they cover blast effect ports?

I've been wondering what those are too. The only thing that makes sense to me is attachment points for the Macross style armor.

I bet they compress in. Warden seemed to magically attach the armor with no attachment point and barely any pressure.

It's not even that greebled. You're not being reasonable, it's not a Masterpiece.

I actually don't mind it on Skyfire. I feel mainly the smaller figures that are over the top. Oddly they managed to restrain themselves on Megatron and Optimus, but went crazy on Soundwave, Srarscream and Shockwave.

Fully understand that. Merely stating my opinion.
I vastly prefer the clean look on all my transformers toys. Most original G1 toys were pretty smooth and minimally detailed, Transformers Animated stuff does it amazingly well and even some of the Beats Wars stuff is nice and clean.
Unfortunately the Bay movies seem to highlight excessive bits and greebles and panels and that’s starting to seep into a lot of other lines. Personally I don’t enjoy that, but clearly many others do.
The Seige stuff is actually pretty well made and designed and is a nice change of pace for HasTaks cheaper product size in that sense. I just don’t enjoy the busyness. YMMV

I get that, but the line for you is definately Masterpiece where they've gone above and beyond to eliminate any greebles to a rediculous degree.

(I've lost interest completelyin Masterpiece MP10 was the style I enjoyed)

Anyway, that line is obviously targeted at you. Especially since 3P prices are not a problem for you.

The Siege line is obviously gearing towards being more acceptable to bumblebee movie cybertron scene fans while still being fantastic updates on G1 characters. The greebles, the battle damage, is to give neutral parties a cross over point.

I feel like Hasbro is slowly, carefully trying to transition to a situation where its main characters are easily recognized across any toy line and media.

You have to be at least a little, a little, flexible if you are going to enjoy this hobby.

I foresee a future where I'm excited for movie figures more so than CHUG.

I absolutely love the greebles and paint deco on these. If you hate it then enjoy MP and Prime Wars etc. These are the things that make the toys pop and give it more of a collector feel; not to mention if everything was clean minus greebles then it's basically what we have gotten before.

I also have rolled my eyes at people saying Prime's arms are a kibbly mess when it's clear as day they are homaging the shape on the original toy's arms. I'm not trying to sound like a dick I just think Siege is great, but isn't for everyone. That's how it goes sometimes, but removing these details and paint apps would be a huge mistake and step backwards in my opinion. The 35th Anniversary Line is a great place for the clean stuff. Hasbro has a great thing going right now.

Must've missed that. I just haven't seen pre-orders for him on US sites, but saw it on amazon jp, so presumed it was exclusive. Thanks for correcting me.

US sites are abiding by the so-called "Wal-Mart" embargo, so you won't see any listings there until release time, essentially. Japanese sites aren't bound by this, so they go up early for pre-order just like everything else in Japan.
