I don\'t get it.  These + figures look super bland to me.  I know some people are into them that\'s great for you.  At least this is a solid mold, so those who like the simplistic look will get their monies worth.

 

Beautiful. But does he still doesn’t have the lunch box/W.T.F.I.W.D.(whatever the fuck it was device)?

I Appreciate Red Alert+ because that was a whole new paint scheme, I'm mixed on prowl, I'm getting the bluestreak, I like the head on it.

Great Photos but all they did was take away paint and that is BS for a MP+

 

I'm actually in the same camp regarding the simplified cartoony paintjob, but strictly speaking about Wheeljack, I think the original Alitalia Racing deco actually ruins the look of the Stratos - even if that's what the real car looked like. The simpler paintjob here puts more focus on the lines and contours of the Stratos and really brings out the beauty of the car itself. Just my  .

 

I like them cause I prefer a nice finish that has that charming finish. Compared to the original wheeljack which is just that plain white plastic and it doesn’t look as cool. Same goes for red alert.

 

He looks so boring and plain now.

I just can't justify re-purchasing the same character for a paint job to be closer to the animation.

Honestly, I think the 'full toon' push they've been doing with the Masterpiece line killed a lot of my interest in the line.
I liked it better when they were a nice merging of cartoon with G1 toy/real world vehicle.

It's cool for those that want cartoon accurate looks for all their bots, but not for me.

 

Dude it’s coated in paint. All the surfaces have paint on him. Unlike the original. It’s fair that you may not like the deco but it does not have less paint. In fact it has more.

 

To me Prowl is the worst looking one. It just took away text, branding, and the windows are blue. Atleast Bluestreak tried to fit in with the current Masterpiece style.

 

I do like all that white paint, and I wish they'd used it on the original before that sumptuous deco was slapped onto it, as it is now either of these feels like a compromise. Lovely whites or accurate deco. Hm.

Some of the + figures I've taken the plunge on (Alert, Bluestreak, Shockwave) but Takara splitting the line like this still feels like a bit of a slap in the face for those of us who supported the early releases. In order to get a coherent set of figures we have to jettison the Hasui era and start over. I'm not willing to go that far, so like some have said the line is losing its lustre a little because of it. My MP collection is pretty much 50/50 official to 3P, and since the latter is almost completely in the earlier style, I'm going to stick with what I have and cherry pick toon decos based on merit. They won't go with the main display though, and it feels like a waste.

OP was right on this one though - + for bot, standard for altmode in my opinion.

It looks nice but it also looks so plain. I'm glad I have the first version.

 

The one thing I would have liked to see is if his windows were a solid blue. It works for the other MPs, but I think having the windows make up so much of his torso really looks weird to me.

 

Yeah, thanks. I was a fan of the older MP design style and I liked the cartoon accurate shape with the colors of the toy. Just not for me, I'll wait for Bluestreak.

 

Amazing how people see the same things in different ways. Back when I started collecting as an adult and EBAY used money orders and checks I won a MIB diaclone wheeljack with light blue tinted windows, that's exactly what this reminds me of.

 

Jeez. Five anime+ releases in and there's still bitching and moaning about the fallacy of having "less paint" than the originals. Every single one of them has MORE paint paint than the original. Every single one. Every copy I've had has tighter joints than the originals and, with the exception of Red Alert, all come with more accessories than their originals. The ones that have been Takara wide releases (not TT Mall exclusives) also cost nearly the same as the originals (I think my WJ+'s were less than $65 each preordered and shipped from AJ).
