We pushed in as far as we could and couldn’t close the panels flush. I was able to get them back out but it was not easy.

 

I’ll add my thoughts on Overlord too. I went to Ollie’s looking for Octane to complete my son’s triple changer set. We found him, but my son convinced me to buy Overlord.

My son and I have collected for a while, but I’d yet to see him really connect with one of the transformers. We read the comics, play with the toys, etc, but connect with one where he takes it with him everywhere and constantly plays with it? Never.

Then came Overlord. Mine had a bad tab I had to clip but once that was done he was perfect. And my son immediately connected with him. I’ve barely had a chance to touch him since we got him. He goes with my son everywhere and he constantly transformers him, plays with him, etc. we had to go out this morning to target to buy our first Prime Masters when he learned they could slot in his chest.

So well done Hasbro. Heck of a figure.

 

Ok, one more update. The filler pieces from Dreadwind definitely fit and allow his chest to close. I’ll buy Blackwing and use that as the other chest filler. Once I find Blackwing :/

 

I picked up a Shockwave Lab SL-25 weapons upgrade and two Titans Return Overboard figures for my Overlord. With a little work to replace the face plates I can close the chest no problem. The tabs that the engine plates plug into need to be filed down a bit and the tab on the back of the feet need to be removed and that was it. I did glue the plates on in addition to the screw to make pulling them out the chest easier due to the snug fit but pretty much plan on keeping them in full time since I already have Megatronus and Apeface in the tank and plane cockpits.

 

How's the quality of that kit?

Thinking about buying it for the gun.

 

For $15 I've got no complaints. All the plastic & paint is excellent quality, especially on the metallic gold and silver of the engines.

I also have the SL-25 hand upgrade set coming, but not sure if I'll end up using it or not. When I ordered them I thought it replaced the standard hands. I didn't realize until after that they only peg into the fists, which then get rotated into the forearms and then must be removed for transformation.

Does anyone know of any upgrade hands that actually replace the standard fists?

I got it on ebay. It was actually $18 shipped (from China) but I had a $3.00 discount code that I used.

 

The fireblasts with the Siege Battlemasters fit the cannons sticking out the lower half of TR Overlord's chest.

my tj maxx randomly got a bunch of these for $13 so i picked one up. was not expecting to love him as much as i do. he's very dense and heavy for his size, and he feels properly imposing. splitting him apart for the first time was terrifying but it's gotten easier since i did it a few times. transformation is simple but very efficient.

 

It is just a suggestion but if you are interested I recommend getting two copies of Overlord, since I created a combined vehicle mode when you have two copies of Overlord.

I picked this one up at TJ Maxx for $12.99. They had 3 more in stock. So they got at least two cases in stock.
He's really sweet for that price. I enjoyed Sky Shadow at regular price and would have liked this one as well.
My only gripe: No deployable belly guns.

 

Can't find the takara version thread. Got mine very late and the shockwave Lab SL-25 upgrade kit as well. Some trouble handwork is needed on the takara one. Have to unscrew open the body and remove that "fake engines" on the chest.

All in all this toy is excellent: easy transform, solid, good looking, nice posable, has play factors and affordably price.

Can't wait to take some photos. Mr Giga and Mrs Mega, god on!

 

Just got this guy tonite from eBay. I was trying to get the Legends version but the prices went up plus the bootlegs from China had me scared. Got the TR version and I’m super happy I got him for $20 and not $100 plus. Only problems are the well documented loose upper arms. Everything else is great.

 

this has become my sons favourite Transformer!

 

Can someone provide a link for the Takara Legends Version? There’s so many on eBay, and I would like one that’s legit.

 

So what are supposed to fit in his chest officially? Something from PotP as EmGo mentioned?
