This is getting confusing. So the main movie is a reboot, and a sequel to Last Knight? But the Bumblebee sequel will be more linked to the existing timeline? Huh? That makes it sound like the TLK sequel is a reboot, but Bumblebee is still in the Bayverse! (which is the exact opposite of what we assumed a few days ago, and defies logic). He's right, he doesn't know what the word reboot means, lol.

Something about this smells like bullshit. A sequel to TLK? I highly doubt it. Remember the 90s Fantastic Four movie that was made and never released so the studio could keep the rights? I bet this post-TLK project is just there taking up space until Paramount can figure out what they\'re doing. It will never go before the cameras.

My thoughts on all this is that most likely there is a language barrier between fans that aren't in the industry and producers that are in the industry in regards to terminology. That's my take on all of this.

I am not a Bayverse fan. I think the designs are terrible and the story gets worse and worse with each movie. Having said that, I can understand Lorenzo's reluctance to call bumblebee a reboot.
Whether you're a fan of the Bayverse or not, you can't deny that Michael Bay made Paramount BILLIONS of dollars with his transformers movies.
Sure, TLK wasn't profitable, but we can't forget... Micahel Bay made paramount BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
Calling bumblebee a reboot isn't as bad as burning a bridge, but it risks offending people all the same. Lorenzo should not have to publicly announce bumblebee as a reboot. It won't increase sales and it certainly doesn't help with Paramount's working relationship with Micahel Bay; a relationship that extends past transformers.
Even if Bumblebee was a SMASH hit, they wouldn't go out of their way to call it a reboot. Bumblebee was profitable and a good movie, but based on raw numbers, it was a modest victory for Paramount. Paramount was taking a risk with Travis Knight. As such, it would've really sucked if they needed to go back to Micahel Bay after going out of their way to publicly declare bumblebee a reboot.
Sometimes, we can be really relentless and shit on Michael Bay despite all the good he did in revitalizing the franchise. If you don't like his movies, at least be thankful for the money he made for Hasbro so that they in turn can keep making us Transformers things.
    This is probably Paramount's script:
Bumblebee was not a reboot back when we werent sure of its success. Therefore, even though Bumblebee was a modest success, it will ambiguously remain as a possible prequel to Bayverse. *wink*
The movies moving forward will be reboots and the next bumblebee will follow this rebooted story.
Lorenzo is an idiot when it comes to the franchise, but here he is playing effective damage control.

The Last Knight is the film version of Bonaventura's mouth.

What the heck do you mean you can't make an Optimus Prime movie?? Did those folks not watch Captain America one and two? Did they learn nothing about telling the classical "Boy Scout" story? Just watch the video that was done on Cap1 on the Movie Trivia Schmoedown Youtube channel, it spells it out for you! It holds your hand through it!

The thing you have to remember when making a true uncorruptable hero film is you HAVE to have a villain WORTHY of that kind of character, and an environment where they can honestly exist! You can't completely artificially stack the narrative against it with see-through plot contrivances like Man of Steel did. Optimus HAS his Megatron. BUT you have to write him with ACTUAL intelligence and not a mumbling, drooling buffoon. Red Skull wasn't presented perfectly in Cap1 but he was presented just strong enough to compliment Steve's own inner battles with an outside motivation and pushing force to create a compelling conflit. I'm sorry IDW didn't learn the lesson from First Avenger either about that character build, it was a true shame. There is NO reason you couldn't present a strong film with Optimus as the lead if you have competent writers and a solid story.

If you're going to be rebooting and or soft rebooting or prebooting or wtfever it's called these days there is plenty of opportunity in the various iterations of Prime's history to throw together a story on par with the birth of Captain America in a Transformers setting!

I don't know why this guy and Avi Arad over at Sony are allowed to speak. Whenever they say anything regarding the respective franchises they work with, it equates to:

And apparently you can't do an Obi-Wan movie, either. I normally try to be polite but is anyone else getting the impression that Bonaventura is coming across as a moron?

If everyone had that attitude, we'd never have had a Marvel Cinematic Universe or a Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
