Michonne gets slashed in the stomach, yet her baby still hangs in there. Must be a flesh wound. No, wait. I know what it is: BAD WRITING!
I literally yelled when I saw that because good lord that was brutal even for this show and.... she’s fine. Yikes.
Branding torture, slashing a pregnant woman's belly and slaughtering feral kids with a samurai sword - they can get away with all that on AMC but not an F bomb. I enjoyed the episode, it was suitably dark and shed some light on the character changes and tensions since the time jump. In fact I've been enjoying the show since the Whisperers' introduction. I suspect it's all leading to the season finale, which could make the Wolves' raid on Alexandria look like a picnic.
This is the list I found: Spoiler Ozzy (leader of Highwaymen) Highwaymen #2 DJ Frankie Tammy Rose Addy Rodney Tara Enid Henry Mostly nobodies, and the comics was kind of the same. Rosita was less important in the comics and Ezekiel hadn’t even shown up since the end of the Savior War. Here, we have Henry who is a major character admittedly, but we hate him so who cares. Tara is surprising since she just took over Hilltop but frankly she’s outstayed her welcome.
Spoiler enid and Henry surprise me especially withi himn being the new carl who was just as annoying if we are honest
Like I said, it was like that in the comics too. The prison war was the big slaughter of multiple major and supporting characters; the pikes killed a bunch of nobodies. Spoiler On paper, Tara and Henry are big losses since they’re the leader of Hilltop and Carol and Ezekiel’s son, respectively. I do feel bad because I love those two and am sad that their perfect family life, Carol’s in particular, is ruined. I really figured Nabila, Jerry’s girlfriend, was gonna get it because she’s had too many happy scenes lately.
The show has been absurd, goofy, and cringe-gy since maybe around season 5-6. I just don't remember. Think I just keep watching out of habit and zombies are awesome no matter how bad. I miss seeing unhinged grimey pointing his gun sideways lazy arm and head cocked and bobby head and preachin' Daryl naming his dog "dog" and the whisperers walkers, neagan reformed and still alive, and the feuding communities is pretty silly.
Oh, I know. I'm still reading the comics. There are a lot of random "characters" in there, too. And a lot of nobodies die in the show, too. If that list turns out to be true, there isn't anyone I am invested in...not there are a whole lot of characters left on the show that I'm invested in.
I haven't read the comics since they fled the prison. The only thing I know about the Whisperers is what I've read on line. I am at a loss to figure out how they are a danger to places like Hilltop and Alexandria with walls. Yes, the show is a bit more scary now that these guys can be hiding in with a bunch of walkers, but how are they a threat inside the communities?
Reading back it did seem like a pretty quick arc - But I think they'll flesh them out more in the show. I think the first half of the next season will be the build up to the full war with them, in the next half of the season.
I hope at some point they do Negan's full back-story as it was told in his comic series. It'll probably be condensed to one episode and he'll probably be telling the story to someone, but I still think it'll be a good episode. I mean they adapted the Governor's Road to Woodbury story so it fit in with the show.
