I feel like this is the hill I’m going to die on, and I should just let this go (especially since nobody can be proven right or wrong for at least a year), but I can’t. So:

This is a multi-million dollar investment for Netflix. It may have also had to commit to two cycles upfront. Who knows. It has a lot riding on this. It has also spent untold millions hiring some of the best creative executives in town. The jobs of those very smart and well paid executives are contingent on the success of the shows they commission.

This is also a huge investment and partnership for Hasbro. We all know that Hasbro is becoming more aggressive in getting actively involved in the storytelling (see:Bumblebee). Hasbro knows that on a global level, this is the best brand exposure Transformers has ever had on what used to be called “TV”. Period.

Trust me. Nobody is going to be phoning this in, or they will lose their jobs and their reputations very quickly. That doesn’t mean it will be good, and a good proportion of people will probably hate it (as with any fandom nowadays). But everyone is going to be trying to make it a massive, massive success.

Oh geez, you're right. Transformers: Prime keeled over since it was on a network nobody had, RiD!2015 got plagued with the 6am graveyard slot, when everyone was still sleeping like a pile of rocks. And the Prime Wars trilogy was on Machinima, which was, again, a platform a lot of people didn't have (I think) and fell prey to awkward...everything. (Awkward characterization, awkward plot, awkward acting, etc.) (Really, it almost sounds like the crew knew they were doomed from the start and purposefully made a Transformers dud to end all Transformers duds...but how often do people make something bad on purpose?)

On the flipside, virtually everyone has Netflix, Netflix doesn't follow the Nielsen ratings schtick, and Netflix is famously super-lax with its executive meddling.

So there's really no room for half-assing anything.

I just hope we see some kind of preview at SDCC or something in the near future, just to know what we're getting into...

For a second I thought they were going to put the Machima YouTube Transformers on Netflix. Thank God that's not the case.

You know, I was listening to the Off Topic this week and Geoff notes that this was a project that had been in the works for sometime. Knowing them, this means probably about a year (or at least a better part of it). I’m wondering more and more if the project moved to RT because Machinima shut down or if Otter Media shut down Machinima because all these things where moving to RT. I mean, let’s be honest, Rooster Teeth and Machinima are redundant and I’m pretty sure I know which one produces better content and makes more money.

I don't know anything about Roster Teeth or what Red vs Blue is, but every Anime I saw by Polygon Pictures was great so far and looked awesome.

I had to pause the video a few times because I was laughing so hard. :lol :lol :lol :lol

Clearly, Monty Oum must’ve been a goddamn genius. I just wish I knew more about him before his passing. (RIP Monty)

Netflix partnered cartoons have been pretty good for the most part so far. I'm not sure they'd sign on for a half-assed project plan.

I'll say I'm far more optimistic about this than I have been about any other Transformers cartoon project in some time. That puts this somewhere above another web exclusive cartoon or Cartoon Network panderfest, and somewhere below a shot at a set and targeted mature themed cartoon that we've been promised since long before the Machima cartoons started getting cranked out.

That's one bold statement. I guess we will see.

As for the episode length, I'm glad we are back to the 22-minute episode format. That was one thing that bugged me about Cyberverse.

Watched the live stream of the panel.

He also described the look of the show as a cross between Knights of Sidonia and the Siege Packaging art.

yet half as many..... this is bugging me considering how rushed a season can feel when there are less than 15 episodes, so 6 total for the 1st season is sounding extremely painfull.

so Two hours. I applaud the direction and ambition, but there will be little character development with two hours.

Castlevania told a decent story with its first season with only 4 episodes

Agree - though the intent may be to get it to feel like a movie, since most people on Netflix binge watch anyway - so essentially we're getting a multipart movie series.

This is becoming netflix standard. I suppose so they can crank out "seasons" faster, but I'd rather wait a year to get bigger seasons, but I suppose this is the short attention span generation coming to fruition.

I hope this is as good as they're making it sound. I'm not going to jump up and down screaming for joy just yet though. Been burned a few too many times before by promises of gold.
