Just a couple quick mods to give TR Wierdwolf an ab-crunch, and Energon Scorponok outward hip articulation with ankle tilts. These mods require cutting but not much of it.

For Wierdwolf I simply lopped of the pictured section with my Dremmel following the mold line. I really like the extra articulation in wolf mode the arched back gives him a werewolf vibe to me.

For Scorponok I cut a square section out of the inner upper thigh(pictured), it's virtually invisible in both modes and friction holds the legs just fine. To add ankle tilt just pop the feet off and switch them to the opposite side.

Just a little more articulation really adds a lot to these figures, especially in Energon Scorponok's case. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, yeah there is an especially good feeling when something old and dated can become fun and interesting again with a few swipes of the saw blade. I intend to add a waist and hopefully ab-crunch to old Scorps before I paint him...Eventually

i know it has nothing to do with the mods but i see a broken piece on the "gold" joint on scorponok on the right side of his chest(the piece that allows it to transform into jet mode)

    My pleasure.

Yeah, those joints are tight below it. I'm not even sure when it happened, it wasnt while I was transforming it (that I'm aware of). I looked at it one day and it was broken. It still holds together, but I have a scrap one laying around that I will canabolize before I paint him.

That's a common problem with Energon scorponok

Great mods! Question: where are those claws from? A suggestion for another upgrade would be to make it a headmaster. Didn't Hasbro release a Scoronok Headmaster as an extra head with the recent lines?

Absolutely gorgeous mods! My only gripe would have to be the cockpit in wolf mode but other than that I wouldn’t mind trying these out myself!

what did ya use to cut those pieces?

I think the kit was by Headrobots. I got it on sale at bbts a while back. It comes with an adapter to make him a headmaster too, but I'm a big fan of the stock head.

Yeah it does stick up quite a bit when you pose the wolf. I think with more trimming I could get it flush, but I'm content with it here (at least for now).

I don't remember what attachment I used on my Dremmel for Scorponok, it was a long time ago. For Wierdwolf just the sanding disks. I use those the sides of them for most plastic cutting except in tight spaces.

hmmm I have been wanting to do this to a spare scorponok. He is in dire need of articulation. Anyway you can supply a step by step? How does the actual movement function on the hip joint?

The movement is already there. The post the leg attaches to when you take it apart serves as a friction joint. For whatever reason they choose to limit the rom with unnecessary plastic.

You really just need to widen the gap at the top of the upper thigh enough to allow motion. I just cut half a square on each side then put it back together. Cuts don't even need to be precise or clean as the joint is hidden.

Here is the upper thigh removed and opening widened. Then you just flip the feet to opposite legs. That's really all there is to it, two screws on each leg, will take you 10min.

Now aint that a peach. I have a few of these molds. I was always wanting to figure out a way to do this. I think its a really "big bot" fig. I'm gonna try it with a black zarak custom I have!

    Thanks!
