If they want to humanize Optimus, don't make a sequel to TLK. I've had enough of Murder Prime, terrible character.

Lorenzo D-Bag: "So I've got this great idea for a movie.. there's Optimus. There's Bumblebee. And they do stuff... Together!!"

    Ugh, I HATE this guy.

I mean, I get Lorenzo's a kooky guy, but there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea. I'm sure they have a story beyond that, but they're not going to give the whole thing away in an interview. This isn't something worth hating him over.

\"The producer has stated that making an Optimus Prime movie is like making an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, and it cannot be done.\"
Looks like Lorenzo isn\'t a fan of r/prequelmemes.

Probably because Paramount and Hasbro still feel there is a market for an adult Transformer movie franchise. I suspect with the success of Bumblebee they're try and write it with a better story vs "leave your brain at home" given the reception Bumblebee got from critics and moviegoers alike. Time will tell though.

It makes some sense but I still disagree. I wouldnt want a movie like that unless you could state without question that Optimus was as much a star in it as Bumblebee.
Im no Optimus Prime super fan but it would only make sense that the character has more to his personality than what we always get. It should be expanded on in a way the general public can see.

I wouldnt suggest bringing back the Bayverse Prime but I really feel like that take on the character was very realistic. He still had the whole sacrifice myself for freedom thing going on but he didnt hesitate to rip those who were out to harm the innocent apart. Hes been the leader of a warring faction of giant alien robots for hundreds of years who are up against a murderous and power hungry army that views all other species like dirt. I really dont think G1 Optimus Primes exact personality especially when doing battle makes much sense from a realistic perspective.

He knows that they’re actually doing that though, right? Like it’s happening via Disney plus and it’ll be better than any of the transformers films he actually had any say in (read: everything but bumblebee)

I\'ll be honest, I\'d actually love to see a Lethal Weapon style Transformers film. A film where Optimus and Bee go on a secret mission to find and arrest or destroy a bunch of new decepticons on Earth. No secret artifact, no blue lazer in the sky, just straight up Optimus and Bee kicking Decepticon tailpipe across the United States in a banter filled, campy film taken straight from G1 meets TFP. Maybe throw in Mindwipe or some other lesser known Decepticons. Maybe actually make it about Shockwave and Soundwave on Earth?

Its fine. I'd rather them be happy with a plot/script over scrambling for an idea. Cement something first, then move forward.
Interesting to hear of a buddy film.

Exactly why 'can't' a Obi Wan Kenobi movie be made?

I don’t understand how a bumblebee film is possible and An Optimus prime, or Obi Wan kenobi isn’t?! Why is it impossible to make films off of beloved characters? What in the world, and why does it sound like he is the one coming up with all of the ideas?

who is really in charge here? The last 3 days are just embarrassing, Hasbro too actually stop commenting on the films and then having it contradicted days later. Please just everyone shut up until you have news

Just think of other famous characters who share screen time. It’s impossible, it can not be done.

That’s like saying you could make an iron man movie without the avengers or a Batman movie without the justice league... it’s impossible it just doesn’t work.

first off, this guy is a fool if he thinks you first off, this guy is a fool if he thinks you can't do an Obi Wan Kenobi movie on Optimus Prime movie. It's like he never paid attention to the media over the numerous decades focusing on Optimus Prime's self-doubt or indecision or whatever. He's an action hero, an Uber badass, but with a conscience even more developed than his prodigious fighting abilities. I actually would really love to see a movie like that, although it seems that the producer of the Bay versus is completely incapable of recognizing the merits of such a film. Honestly Lorenzo's every pronouncement depresses me. It's like they struck gold and they immediately want to back off from it

Man I hate this guy. Just the way he thinks he knows how the brand should be despite the brand being so much more diverse.

I agree. I think what we're seeing here is a guy rampantly speculating about the TF movies he'd like to see. I'm not going to believe anything he says until Hasbro confirms his speculations (with revealed merchandise or verbal confirmation at a convention) or a trailer for one of these movies pops up somewhere.
