Well, I attatched the piece and left it alone. So presumabky it just got pushed outward over time by the pieces it was clamped too; good ol third law from Newton. Honestly looking at it now, I don’t think the designer thought of a long term plan for this, though a valiant effort. At this point, I desperately want a third party to come up with a better solution, or just OS KO the studio series version to go with the BA Prime. I never did add Future to the chest pieces, so maybe that’ll change my mind, but as of now I really do not get much enjoyment from this guy outside of looks, which is such a shame. I don’t know how on earth this figure got produced with these design choices. It allows for more arm movement, but at what cost? The studio series version isn’t as poseable, but at least it holds together No no that was before when the FBI raided my house remember. Charges were dropped thankfully
Dude that sucks! I guess it's not made with strong enough materials? Have you tried telling the seller?
Huh. So I was fiddling with this guy last night and I tried something I hadn't seen and the shoulders are suddenly much more stable. One even barley moves. It's actually fairly obvious so I'm assuming maybe this has been tried before and if I'm just lucky that its holding than you can ignore. I'll post some pictures later (I was at work when I deciced to share) but here are the steps I took: Pull down the front, faux folded bumper. There's a slight crevice between where the shoulder pads do tab and the base of the neck. It takes some fiddling but you can get in and the pads angled up. Put the faux bumper back up. It'll hit the bottom of the shoulder pads but keep pushing. Not too hard but push until the peg is into the base of the neck When you're done, the pieces should be angled like this. It was looking at these images (and the Studio Series voyager) that made me decide to try this. The chest is so much more angled/pushed inward in these, it feels weird that the MPM didn't. When I did this, it used the tension between the chest piece and the base of the neck to hold the shoulders in place a LOT better. Moving the arm still causes some movement since it is just using friction to hold in place but it held in place better and shaking the figure didn't cause them to fall (until I shook pretty hard). Angling it like this also put the shoulder joints in the arm much more on the side instead of on the back. It makes him sort of broad but that feels right for the character. Anyway, this might just be the ramblings of a madman but I figured I'd share.
I haven’t, only because I didn’t think too many people would buy those 3D pieces. I can hit up capcomkai on IG though. I’m assuming your gun holster pieces work just fine? You might need to post some pics later when you have time, think I’m doing something wrong. Sounds promising though
Yeah but I haven't messed with them much cause I've had him on a shelf for a while. Also they don't endure nearly as much stress as the shoulder pieces probably do.
Ok. Sorry for the delay: kitchen sink leaked and it was a whole thing. So here are the pictures. If you can sort of adjust the front of the truck into the two groove I point to in the second photo (edit: I guess first photo? Sorry uploaded in a different order), you should be able to push the chest piece up and sort of hold them in place. I did a shake test and they held until I was shaking hard enough for other joints to give out. You do still need to hold them for arm posing but I only need a slight bit of pressure from one finger rather than to grab and hold. But as you can see, it can hold poses well. Let me know if this works for you.
kinda trying but cant get it to "work" so maybe i am doing it wrong or its just luck? edit: kinda have this now and the shoulderpads look like they are more secure. not sure if this is what you said
You’re getting there and if that’s holding, then great! But mine are a bit more twisted in, towards the sternum. It should look as if the grill has been pushed in by the middle piece, with the corners pointing forward now instead of the grill. I think that’s one of the big things I see: everyone wants Ironhide’s chest/shoulders to be the truck grill pointed forward but it’s pointed in.
I wish one of the designers would just make a video where they show us the right damn way to use this thing.
Finally got him and he is amazing to me! Wow, die cast, painted parts, etc...A real masterpiece!!! He was a floppy mess when i opened him but after i locked the chest it has been good since. I can see why designers gave it a bit of leeway to support articulation but whywhy articul when its going to look way off? Due to this, it does feel like an unfinished product since a locking tab that can connect to his neck area would have solved it all. Oh well, i added stability by wedging the tire by the connector that holds and gives the chest articulation. So far so good. Not a permanent solution but it prevents the drooping of the arms and chest during poses.
No without question for me. I prefer waiting some months for an improved KO version from BMB or Weijiang.
It should not be too hard for a ko company to create improvements. The figure itself is not bad at all. It is a must for a IH fan especially at $60
