The only thing I want from the new set is the gun, as it's closer to the original toy. No interest otherwise.

I really don't think it's a painted custom. A lot of the recoloring looks more like molded plastic than paint to me.

Which is irritating because I would have rather bought this version...

 

you you know, I thought this thing was coming eventually and now that it's here frankly I'm underwhelmed. I actually think the toy color scheme looks more visually interesting. If they had actually changed the chest plate so that it looked like the cartoon, I might have bitten. But not just for a recolor.

 

Yep, especially after seeing a better pic of it in the tfcon thread, it's safe to say it is not a custom. You can see the foot attachment piece between Brawl are the same blue as bits of Onslaught's shoulders in the pic.

I really like it, but I'm not sure I like this set enough to sell the toy deco at a loss and "reward" this tactic buying the new version.

Edit~ I'm only kidding myself to think I won't get this set...

 

Now this I’m loving. I was waiting since day one of Armageddon’s reveal that there will be a boxed set in toon accurate deco with some fixes. Now it’s here and it look fantastic. Blast off in particular is gonna be great with that darker brown and richer purple. And the bit that I can see of onslaught looks like a lovely dark blue. Grey vortex looks nice and the robot will also probably be good with the less toy style deco. Swindle doesn’t look much different. And brawl is kinda brown, except more olive. I’ll wait for further pictures of him.

I think swindle’s yellow is a lot stronger and less tan.

Yeah I’d love if they had the original head as well. Cause honestly I love it way more.

It would’ve been fair to know and I guess I was just lucky for being patient. But at least we know redecos are possible from them. I’m not sure if superion will have one though.

Maybe this is an extremely cheap cash in with no effort? I dunno. That is a weird detail to me. But I’m fine with it.

I hope so also. They would need to match original feet colors, new chest and head and I would be happy. Kind of sucks that new box set is the redeco.

 

Damn. I'm in two minds here. The individual repaints look awesome but it makes zero sense to do all they have to then not change the chest plate, wtf Zeta. Why? It would have been near PERFECT with a toon chest plate. As it is it's almost half arsed.

On the flip side you've just fucked yourself for all future sales as now ppl will wait to see what 6 months down the pipeline repaint wise. But then Predaking doesn't look like he uses partsforming so I'm not sure even you guys know what you're doing 6 months from now anyway.

Ps. Do a colour coded feet set with grey pants for the first set and you might claw some goodwill back but I'm not sure you give enough of a shit about your customers to do that. Which is a huge shame.

 

Okay this looking good. I think the lighting is overexposed a bit since onslaught doesn’t look any different and brawl is bordering on yellow. But vortex is fantastic. Blast off looks dope with all that black. And swindle looks great and especially in altmode. Also that gun arm looks to be new and I’m digging it.

They can't even be arsed to do the right chest plate so I wouldn't get your hopes up......

Or it is and it makes the chest plate even more of the half arsed cash grab that it is whilst slapping every single toy version owner in the face with releasing a version with fixed parts.

 

I'm right there with ya. As an upgrade-maker, I'm split now because I've been getting numerous requests to do a Superion set, but if Zeta continues with this business approach, they might eventually just cover that in the re-release. It takes a lot of time to develop stuff like that, not to mention monetary investments in materials, machines, etc., so I'm left feeling more confused than anything. The one thing I can take away from this is that I do prefer my set over what Zeta did (purely subjective of course). The olive/green Zeta went with isn't my cup of tea.

 

Anybody else notice they took the Tracks off brawl for that combined mode promo pick? ;-)

Glad I didn't have the cash flow when you guys were going at it one at a time... I don't own the original warbotron, but have the oversized one... better in every way.

Assuming it's a box set... I really couldn't see them being sold separately and still make their money. What if you only wanted the new swindle, but not the other 4?

They have to sell equal parts to cash out, right?

 

Just now apparently. It'll be great for those who didn't get their Bruticus V1, but it is a shame that the splinter faction from Toyworld would go to such lengths to actually give their predecessor the middle finger in every sense of the word whilst imitating their every action. From the Predaking's each are offering to this redeco reissue a la Constructor just sends that message home all too clearly, except Toyworld at least made and sold/included G1 accessories and parts for their Constructor in their V2 boxset, unlike this that lacks that beautiful toon crest. Perhaps Zeta will realize their folly and include that with other details, but then again following their business model so far, that'll be a separate order undoubtedly.

Fanstoys are, at the very least, going a step above Zeta in this regard by showing two models for their two combiners from the get-go, which is something worth noting should Zeta take some cues towards appealing to their customers. I cannot comment if all of those accessories for both renders will be with Fanstoys offerings or not, but it is something Zeta should really be taking into consideration, especially after probing for a consensus towards increasing their prices on future products. If they want their customers to pay more, then they need to account for these possibilities.
