THF, i read it solve some of the issues of the takara, also way cheaper.

 

Good choice. I know some people who bought it to replace the official were a little unhappy because they felt the quality was noticeably lower, but I was coming from Citizen Stack and was pretty happy with my purchase. I even wrote a review for him here.

 

THF version is not without its faults. If the Takara version had THF's leg ratchets and fixed butt flap it would be perfect.
The left red shoulder hinge on my THF is loose as a result the left arm falls out of place away from the body easily. No way to fix it either. YMMV as not everyone's THF copy has this issue. So now my Takara version is my main MP Ultra Magnus.
I may roll the dice in the future and pick up a second THF UM and hopefully the red shoulder hinges will stay in place securely on that one.

You mean the hinge that locks his shoulder against his body? The right side is looser on my copy than the left, but I don't see it as a big problem since undoing those gives you more sideways range and a butterfly. Unless you mean something else?

Anyway, not saying he's perfect. There's obviously a reason why people who already have a Takara aren't real happy with it. But like I said, I didn't have one, just Citizen Stack. For the price I thought THF looks better, feels more solid, and was a worthwhile upgrade over Stack.

 

I'm talking about this red hinge on THF.
On my copy it will not tab securely into the hole in the blue section of the main body. As a result the slightest touch causes that arm to flail out of place. The two tiny red rigde bumps on top of the red hinge are too small so there isn't enough friction to keep them attached on the body. The other arm doesn't have this issue. It's so bad that I don't feel like picking it up to handle.

 

OK, yeah, we're talking about the same thing. On my left it's really tight, and it takes a good amount of force to pop out. On the right it's not so loose that it'll pop out from gravity alone or anything, but it's likely to pop out unintentionally while you're manipulating the arm. Not enough to bother me, especially when popping it out helps with a lot of poses.

 

What about a blip of super glue to those nipples? Or a line of Future inside the blue notch and under the red armiture? Just to add a few thousands of an inch of clearish material to tighten it up.

I've got the THF Magnus and the left side is also looser than the right, but not enough to bother me yet.

 

None of that worked.

Got a MPM Ironhide for under 70 from Japan shipped!

 

Grabbed some non-TF items that were sitting in my cart as "only if there's a sale" purchases.  

 

Finally got a takara mpm. Damn you ebay had you had that sale months ago i would have gotten my mpm ironhide and i would not have fallen in love with the studio series line! Now i am buying and painting those figs!

Something like $362.99. After the discount, it was a little under $315.

 

Plus some are reporting that the KFC articulated hands for MP Magnus don't fit securely on the THF KO. They are rather loose. A coat or two of clear nail polish may help.
Overall, the official Takara is better in quality. I should know. I have both.

Oh and my Phone is an older Samsung Galaxy - it used to run the app but they removed compatibility for it in an update but - it's hardly the only device (that you think it should work on) that it doesn't. Not worth me replacing it though just yet I might buy a more gaming focused one in a year or two when some of the better ideas in that area come out but there is no point replacing it right now.

I even tried using an older build of the app - but it just throws up error messages and doesn't let you actually buy anything - which is pretty annoying to be honest.
