Look I get that Beast Machines isn't really a popular show and Primal is often compared to a tree hugging hippie which I don't agree with but at least I can understand and respect their difference in opinion.

That said the statement that he never did anything but sit and mope to himself just is not true. The only time he ever sat was to communicate with the Oracle and he never once moped to himself... that was Silverbolt... and also to a lesser extent Rattrap did a lot of sitting and moping to himself because he was freaking useless in combat.

Now if you really want to talk about an Optimus who never did anything... look at RID2001... Except for a very few episodes both Optimus and Megatron/Galvatron were the laziest characters with those names EVER! Optimus would spend most of the series with T-AI giving orders to the other Autobots but not actually go on missions himself. Megatron/Galvatron was the same way, for most of the series he just sat his ass on a throne in his ship and ordered the Predacons and Decepticons to do most of the dirty work for him. It's kind of the worst part about that series because design wise I love these versions of the characters but you rarely ever see them in action. You'll see them in the pilot and then it's a LONG wait before you ever see them do anything again.

It was even mentioned in one episode that Megatron rarely goes on missions himself unless it's important enough that he can't trust his underlings to handle it. And Optimus seems to only go on missions where Megatron/Galvatron is present... And I think this is also part of why Ultra Magnus think's he'd be a better leader. Ultra Magnus is in combat far more often despite being introduced later in the series.

All this Optimus ever did was look cool, some how force a guy who hates him to combine with him to form Omega Prime, look even more awesome... and yeah... that's pretty much it... Even when he was out in the field, Megatron manged to kidnap a human scientist as Optimus failed to stop him. His being on the field actually helped create Scourge is one of the best villains in the show. He pissed off Ultra Magnus even more when they combined for the first time.

Two things Optimus sound never be...

1. Lazy/willing to send his troops into dangerous situations that he wouldn't go into himself. Optimus is usually very protective of his troops and wouldn't send them into combat unless he thought they could handle it.

2. Useless/his joining a mission should be a benefit not a detriment to the mission. Optimus is usually much more powerful than other Autobots so him showing up to a fight is usually a turning point where battle the Autobots were losing can go the other way but here it's almost as if they're batter off without him. The only real turning point is when Optimus and Magnus combine to form Omega Prime then and only then does having Optimus around actually help the situation.

Also I thought this was suppose to be who is the worst Prime not who is the worst Optimus. Primal technically isn't even a Prime... Though if Prima counts then I don't see why Primal doesn't... Though apparently his full name is Prima Prime which I think is stupid and redundant... like Primal Prime. I also don't get why some people pronounce Prima as prim instead of prime. Just because that E isn't there doesn't mean the I should stop saying it's name, it doesn't work that way for Primal so why would it work that way for Prima. Prima is just Primal without the L.

 

Primal is a Prime in everything but name.

He's literally the Matrix's chosen champion, he goes on vision quests like Rodimus in G1 S3, and he can summon Matrix powers in the field like reformatting, the whole burning justice white eyed rage, the plasma energy chamber, etc.

He's a Prime, that is if Matrix Affinity + leadership = Prime.

Alpha Trion, Liege Maximo, and Prima all prove that not every Prime necessarily has the word "Prime" in their name.

 

Magnus was never a prime. He was just keeping the matrix warm until the next chosen one came along.

 

Micronus prime, he fall's short of standard for a prime.

 

Optimal Optimus.

For such a big bot, he really got his ass kicked by Dragon Megatron.

Watching the battles between him and Dragon Megatron, I honestly felt like somebody else should've received his upgrade- perhaps they would've used it better.

After 3 seasons of waiting for the final conclusion to Beast Wars, watching him get his ass whooped in the final fight between him and Dragon Megatron, all I could think was: You're a serious disappointment.

It goes to show that just because you're a descendant of Optimus Prime, that doesn't automatically make you as strong or good a fighter as he was- Optimal Optimus didn't live up to that.

ALSO: How easily damaged and crippled he was by Dinobot II- THAT was ridiculous. Never should've happened.

I have to agree.

Optimal Optimus was a huge let down, and Beast Machines Primal was even worse.

 

My vote goes to Animated Sentinel Prime.. he reminds me of a robot version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast

 

Technically, so was Optimus. The "Prime" designation was just a leader designation at that point. For all we knew, so was "Magnus" back in 1986.

 

Pretty much any version of Sentinel Prime. Am I just someone else's backstory, doing nothing more notable than passing the Matrix and dying? Am I a backstabbing, murderous, genocidal traitor? Or am I just a petty blue douchebag who sounds like The Tick?

 

Pretty much every Prime in IDW that wasn't Optimus. Nova was a fascist imperialist with a hard-on for eugenics, Nominus was a political puppet, and Sentinel was just a bigoted asshole.

 

That pussy Rodimus.
