I like that he said, he doesn't know anything about a crossover, he is just doing Transformers for now. As well it would make any sense to do a crossover yet, the Transformers war hasn't even started yet. They would most likely wait to do any crossovers with other Hasbro brands after the Transformers come to Earth.

I’m personally hoping they won’t bring in any other Hasbro properties this time around. What IDW did last time left a bad taste in my mouth. The only one that I genuinely enjoyed was Rom.

I just feel with crossovers, they fail to do the Transformers any justice. Whether it’s because they are underpowered or written as if they don’t have any personality, it never ends up coming out right. Just an opinion, of course.

I think whether any of the Hasbro properties that got licensed in 2015 get a second go depends on how the sales of the TF reboot go. Certainly outside of the Synergy anthology and the GI Joe miniseries, both of which appear to be self-contained, nothing has been announced.

I think a crossover universe can exist but not unlike some of IDW’s other crossovers, it works best if tailored to the crossover itself.

You can do a Hasbro Justice League if you like but it feels stronger in my way of looking at things to give it its own universe and, in particular, a universe without any of the teams existing so it has space to breathe, maybe more like Knight’s Bumblebee in scope.

So maybe you have G.I.Joe get disbanded. Scarlett takes her government bonus and buys a mustang to move out west. But that Mustang is Bumblebee. And along the way they end up with hitchikers. Scarlett works because she’s sort of representative of different parts of Joe. She’s a martial artist, stealth operative, handy with fire arms. Bumblebee works because he doesn’t dwarf humans.

But managing the shared universe team book ALONGSIDE other books is insane. And frankly revamping Visionaries or MASK or COPS for inclusion is insane because each would take too much effort to revamp so you’re better off just bringing in recognizable versions. Otherwise, you end up with half-baked revamps. Easier to just pick up the characters from a recognizable state at the beginning or end of where people would know them from.

I\'ve been reading both uk and us since the 1980 but I stopped reading when it started becoming about \"Relationships\", if it goes back to the war I may start reading again.

Transformers crossovers mostly suck. It’s a death knell.

So far this is sounding really good, I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm glad to hear they're not planning a crossover, and that it's going to be friendly for new readers.

This might be somewhat controversial (and I've touched on it before), but I hope we get to the Earth stuff fairly soon. Spending too long away from Earth starts to feel a bit overindulgent to me (if that makes sense), and can even get a bit boring. I sort of view the Earth stuff as the real meat of the Transformers story, and the Cybertron stuff more as a backstory. (Who knows though, maybe this series will cause me to break away from that mentality).

That much being said, I think spending a good amount of time on Cybertron will be a good thing. It'll give the story a chance to develop the Transformers before they meet humans, instead of developing robots and humans simultaneously. We don't see the former too often in TF fiction. I just hope we don't have to wait years and years to get to that point.

I see what you’re saying. But since this is mainly a Transformers comic, it should focus on that. The Adventures Of Scarlett and Bumblebee doesn’t really sound all that interesting to me :p

I'd be okay with side stories like the library of Star Trek vs... X Crossovers we've had in the past few years. Just be as good as some of those like Trek vs POTA or the first Trek vs Green Lantern. A Beast Wars vs POTA crossover would be a blast.

Or maybe that lost Transformers JLA project. I'd support that faster than a remix of every previous War for Cybertron storyline from the past 35 years.

Can we get a "wahhh!" rating every time these posts appear? Because by god these posts are so childish it's synonymous with crying every time Prime and Megatron don't punch each other or Devastator doesn't tear some Autobot cities gates.

If IDW had kept the war going for more than 6 years I bet you viewership would drop faster than Energon's approval. Not everything has to be about the dang war, and IDW gave freaking culture and backstory to what seemed like endless war machines that would make the Warhammer 40k Imperium blush.

I need to point out that this does not confirm no more crossovers with other Hasbro brand, it just confirms they didn't tell him if this is the start of a new Hasbro comic Universe or if it's not. Anyway why did the interviewer ask about crossovers with other Hasbro brand when the upcoming Transformers reboot comic is before the war started, that was a dumb question to ask, let the Transformers get to Earth before you ask about crossovers.

Until then can only picture every single Cybertonian asking the powers that be: "Earth? By the Celestial Spires what the heck is Earth?

That should drive away any Crossovers.

    Maybe?

    We hope?

What I'm missing is the villain trying new schemes to gain the upper hand. Wether it's a new energy source or a new doomsday device or things like the experiment in Stormbringer involving Thunderwing.

The Mad Demobot Hate to tell you but readership did fall under IDW, this is why they rebooted just because I don\'t fap to robots in love does not make my opinion invalid. So if you can not be so childish and rude because someone has a different opinion we can all get along.

The fact that you put your opinion in this way does indeed make it invalid. It's fine to not like the previous IDW continuity, but it's not fine to be a dick about it. Ok?

It's promising that he claims one of the things he loves most about Transformers is the variety. But as usual that's not exactly what we are getting.
The usual fanfavs we get pushed down our throats the whole time and one, so far, bland original character.
Why couldn't they just have given that role to Fastlane or Landmine or one of the hundreds of other characters that already exist?
