In my eyes all I've seen from the unification is that we all get a takara deco, instead of us US people getting bad paint jobs and the takara imports having amazing paint schemes. So I'm personally happy they got rid of the stupid separation between the 2.

I do think he looks a bit "grey plastic" rather than "grey finish" tho, but of course that may be the lighting/camera and not how it looks to the eye.

MPM8 is big but relatively light , heavy , but light , if you know what i mean. MP44 will be slightly hevier because of his compact size. Mass and weight relativity.
MPM8 painted surface is scattered at small places while MP44 goes full painted throughout the body, that also count the trailer and accessories.
MPM8 simply has 2 accessories. MP44 has more than 8 and they are painted. Add the trailer.
MPM8 doesn't have electronics. MP44 does.
You might not care about those extra but that's the reason the price can go a lot more. The MP line is far more important then MPM , equal with BWMP , yet im surprise at how good this MPM8 is.

 

No, that is your preconceived notions clouding your judgment. Just look at the difference in transformation complexity.

Not to mention, MPMs are for an international audience and toy markets outside of Japan aren't ready or willing to shell out top dollar for a top toy. MPMs themselves suffer from QC issues and engineering shortcuts that prevent the figures from being short of Masterpiece.

Holy shit, he's huge!

He does look more toy-ish, but that's a plus IMO. He actually looks fun to play with. I kind of really want him now.

Also, the cube gimmick in the chest is slightly adorable the way the pictures just show it placed in the chest. "Do you want this, Megs?" "Yes please." "There you go." "Thank you." *gargles and dies*

every fragile parts seems to be made out of rubber/soft/vinyl plastic so no worry of breakage. They hold shape very well.

 

Ummmm except for the electronics Prime V2.0 had everything mentioned except a few extra accessories Are you saying those few extra accessories cost $220+ bucks?

 

Guys let's leave MP44 out of this thread. We get it, NOONE LIKES THE PRICE. It's been stated in the other main MP44 thread in this forum and further complaints can be posted there. This thread is for MPM Megatron.

It’s so funny, the Movie 1 Megatron design is still one of my least favorite of all the movie designs (in and of itself one of my least favorite Transformers aesthetic period) but this toy looks so fantastic. And I knew it would be big but holy shit it’s massive! It sounds like it’s well executed as well. I never thought I’d be this excited over a toy of this character.

 

it took me by surprise as well. I'm all "meh" when it was revealed , but once I receive this figure and take quality time with it , all my doubt flew away. It's not the same awesome feeling with MP36 that made me intrigue right from when it annouced , but once I mess around with it , this figure has the same charm as MP36 with a more simple transformation yet retain very good articulation. No bias of course.
