I find it illogical to call a Voyager sized figure a Leader sized figure and charge twice as much.

 

These look great as does much of the Siege line...I just wish they'd not gone quite so 'all in' on the greebles and weathering, less is more guys! Its almost like they've heard the criticisms of the smooth 'plain' toon look of the MP line and over compensated here. Still the best looking main line I've seen in years though.

 

Shockwave is super greebled here. Like it’s so gritty and detailed. It’s an aesthetic I love though.

 

I don't hate it, it just feels like a bit of overkill. TT seem to have a very all or nothing approach these days...no subtly. I really like both these figures but am put off by the...mess of detailing all over them. I totally appreciated that they are going for something different though and applaude that.

 

Agreed. It’s so overdone. But why are you saying TT is responsible?

 

Sorry Hasbro... the designers/sculptors whoever they might be or work for. I'm not sure how much involvement either company have in it to be honest. Not really my area of interest or expertise.

 

Yeah I don’t know either. I just feel like it’s being treated with hasbro sensibilities and buisness plans. Like their pricing, intended kinda for children or adults but not fully either, and paint of course. But engineering in any line is quite blurred. Like Hideaki Yoke has engineered armada minicons and animated swoop, Tomoya Miyake has done figures like Special Opps Jazz and Rhinox, and your boy Hasui has done so much on a bunch of lines including the best figures in Prime Wars like Brawl and Sixshot. And there’s no official point on who does what and how much. It’s a strange beast. And this is just what I know from TFwiki.

 

Hah I noticed that too. Those tower fins kind of help complete the ship mode by making it that tiny extra bit more than the gun upside down with a few parts added.

I agree, yet I bought this one and felt like it was a fair price considering the quality. Wrist and waist swivels, ankle tilts, great articulation all around, good colors, has gun mode and a real cool ship mode plus crazy weaponized bot mode, great design and engineering, none of the hollow ugly arms and legs we've gotten for years... All in all, this is as good or better than what I'd expect to get for $50 from a 3rd party figure.

 

He's certainly pricey, but I'm a big fan of Seige Shocky. He's certainly the Seige figure I pick up and fiddle with the most. This is how I'd want my live-action movie Shockwave to look, tons of detail (especially around that eye) and there's just something about that clear plastic at the top of his backpack that pleases me no end.

The price of a leader class is based on using a certain weight of Has/Tak/Tomy plastic and tampos ink/decals. Since both Magnus and Shocky use MORE plastic than most leader class CHUG of the last 15 years, I got no issues.

Pretty sure parts count and complexity would factor in as well; something Siege leaders have more of than previous lines' leaders.
