Super easy fix from an experienced modder here. If anyone doesn't like the floating nacelles in Soundwave's hoverbrick mode, simply trim the flat grey connector pieces that attach them to his back. This allows them to fold flush against the body, and to even lock into place with the tabs on the sides of his chest! Even better, the mod is invisible when completed. I believe that this is how his hoverbrick was meant to look, and it allows you to mount some heavy artillery to those ports on the nacelles, such as Shockwave's arsenal. If you don't like how this looks afterward, the nacelles can still be positioned as usual with no issue. I placed this here because it didn't seem quite worth being a Radicons post. I have a method for fixing Starscream so he doesn't yeet his chest off during Transformation too, but it's pretty intuitive. I'm on it! This should work. Sorry, I am not good with computer (Except with GIS stuff). Doesn't explain why he has a huge flight deck, but it does look like he has 10 missile ports there. The little flip-up conning tower insinuates that he may do some insane level of size expansion in this mode. But hey, he doesn't look any odder than Shockwave's weird destroyer mode. Anyone seeing the pics yet?
Thanks! I don't know how or why this isn't how he came in the box, it's clearly how he was intended to be.
Might be an overthought QC issue? Seems like Hasbro overthinks design and makes things more secure than need be. How many times have figures had their articulation freed once some unneeded bit was removed now?
So I thought that I understood exactly what you were saying but it looks like I didn't, I thought the grey flat connector piece you meantioned was the piece that restricts movement of the Nacelles, I cut that but it did not give the same results. Are you able to elaborate on what piece you mean? Perhaps a picture? In red is what I thought you meant. I may have made a horrible mistake
There's an additional tab on the grey piece that prevents the nacelle from pivoting. You're almost there, all is not lost!
Hmm....there may have been a running change in that case. I hope these pictures help clarify with the nacelles removed!
So I attempted this and it seems to work except that the nacelle pops off when trying to move it too far one way or another. It feels like it's catching a bit on the side that connects to the 'backpack' - does that side need to be shaved down also, in addition to the side that needs to get turned octagonal? I'm wary of cutting too much.
