I tried and failed. After 3 hours I didn't even get him into robot mode, and he broke in several places along the way (a couple things were already broken when I got him, too). He's just built and designed REALLY poorly.

OK, he's here! So far, so good- he has all his parts, all his joints move as intended, and his paint looks great. Heavy and shiny, he is a fantastic representation of the character.

I am shaving the end of each shoulder pad nearest the ball joint mount so the don't get hung up on the shoulders as the arms move. The sliding hips are annoying, they're pretty loose. I may glue them in place, since he will never see truck mode.

Lastly, a happy surprise- he came with his awesome gun! I'm a happy pappy.

    **Sorry no news** :ev:

I personally think this guy's bot mode is almost perfect but some things threw this guy off for me. I slightly editted a couple bits of the prototype picture and I think it looks lightyears ahead of what we've currently got. Most important change is that I gave him an actual neck, something that all seem to be missing for some reason. ;)

    Here's a gif

Your edit is way better for sure. Also, this isn’t a V2 at all. It’s completely different, just happens to be from the same company.

I personally think the larger, more proportional head of the original looks a lot better and I didn't see anything wrong with the neck armor. Your shoulder fix is definitely better though. Just curious, is there a reason you didn't also flatten out the hip armor thats sticking out weirdly?

I mean it kinda is a V2 then isn't it? Its completely new, by the same company, so its version 2 of the character by AA

Didn't see a reason to. Besides I think they might be on the exact same mechanism as Challenger's: on a spring. I think they can be flattened either way.

The head should definitely be smaller. His head wasn’t nearly that big in comparison to the body in the movie.

You might be right on the V2 thing, but it’s not being marketed as “el cid V2” is it? Do we even know? If I were them I’d want to get as far away from associating with el cid as possible.
Normally I’d say you’re right, but considering how many stupid-ass design decisions there were on el cid I don’t wanna assume anything here.

Impressive how small adjustments can make such a difference!

That seam line mid-chest looks weird though and I can't unsee it. The rest of it is pretty good!

I hope we get some news. I'm actually more and more curious about this guy. Toyworld's was gonna be mine but it's looking more and more clumsy and puffed up the more I see of it. Challenger was elegant yet blocky and hard to pose. Toyworld's looks to be more natural but also wayyy too beefed. And that awkward truck is a slightly bigger issue now that I'm starting to like the bot mode a bit less. This one looks decently athletic, like his movie model, and unlike both of the other attempts. (Yes, there is El Cid, but we don't speak of that). He also seems to have a decent range of possibility, especially with the way his elbow joints are positioned. He'll have very deep elbow bends. So we'll see. I might be out on Toyworld's, so Alien Attack might have a potential new customer as long as they bring their shit qc way up and give us a decent figure

Edit. And the thin thighs are the biggest complaint I'm seeing here (besides the previous monstrosity that was El Cid). But the thighs won't look nearly as thin once you get those panels folded against them. Will someone who knows how to edit do that so we can see if it make his legs look better?

I hope this will be a good figure also because Toyworld definitely looks too beefy. This V2 actually looks like it can be the best interpretation of Optimus Prime.

Looks nice and the articulation is good for the most part, just don't transform it.
