I’ve missed out on a few figures who have largely sold out as a result: specifically PE’s Mega Doragon and FH’s Double Evil

 

I'm to the point I'm ready to buy even with a decent bucks promo because I'm worried the figure I've been eyeing the last two months waiting for a flash sale is going to sell out or have the price go up.

 

@kibble, its 3p if it sells out, there will be a reissue. How many if any 3p pieces have actually gone up in value, even the official MP line, you can buy most at original retail price of not lower.

 

I'm not worried about it selling out...I'm worried about missing it at its lowest price. There's a sweet spot with 3rd Party figures. This figure looks to have about reached the end of that sweet spot if other eBay sellers are any indication. Unless it hits clearance at the US retailers...

I did say sell out, though. I meant sell out with the trusted seller that currently has it available for a decent price. No one else seems to have it for this price.

 

I've been using my money that I haven't spent on 15% off coupons on paying my upcoming Siege pre-orders...

To me it's simple, the only time I make another purchase on ebay is when we have a flash sale... if there isn't one, i'll just buy from an e-tailer…

 

Um, you know that eBay doesn't want customers that only buy on flash sales, right? It kind of defeats the purpose of having them and the more people there are that have been trained to wait for flash sales, the less sense it makes to have flash sales.

 

True in most cases; however to my understanding the 'popular and current exception to this rule' is Iron Factory stuff. So many things they need to reissue but so far, haven't. I'm trying to get them while they are hot so I can avoid the situation where I missed out on the Datsun bros and Starscream

 

Yes that's quite obvious to me given that I'm a CPA and work in a public company lol... it's not like I expect eBay to be reading my post or anything, I'm just stating my position...

 

Maybe we should start a non Ebay sale thread. Where you post if X seller has a sale on certain items, and on new releases who has the best price. It may start off as a messy thread, but it could be refined and streamlined.

If I'm looking for a particular figure and want it immediately I'll just buy wherever it's cheapest and I like the retailer/seller.

If it's one I am only willing to pay a lower price for, I'll wait and buy when it goes to the price I want.

EBay with or without sales is jsut another avenue to buy items from other sellers. Sure the coupons and ebucks make it better sometimes but I don't wait and hold off on every single purchase for an ebay sale.

For those that do, I can understand your pain if Ur not getting any toys while u wait for an ebay sale... But u kinda got to also accept that, that's the strategy uve taken so u have really just inflicted that pain in yourself .. Lol

 

The Ebay flash sales are really only great if you have several accounts and buy totals to max out the sales cap of usually $100, for example, if there was a 15% off sale with the $100 max cap and I had $2,000 worth of things that I want to buy, I would break that total on to three accounts buying about $670 on each account, but saving $300, so my $2,000 worth of purchases become $1,700. This was savings on items I was going to buy anyway. Ebay bucks are an added bonus, but generally only worth anything on my primary and secondary accounts.

 

We all have a different opinion. 15% off means we buy 7 times we get a figure free. If you want to pay extra for your collection then it's also a pain that you inflict on yourself as well.
