Well if you want my honest opinion, ill give it. You already know im no fan of the crossover concept. Not toys, not comics, not movies, etc. However, storywise I could see transformers and ghostbusters crossing paths somehow. Although, Id rather not see Decepticons involved. Id rather have it as a one off encounter where the Autobots deal with a human problem or an outside menace. It happend several times in the G1 cartoon. But theres no need to bring in Gozer. She was defeated. The city was saved which was the reason why the Ghostbusters werent in jail courtesy of Walter Peck. So obviously this would take place after they saved the city. There is no need to include Gozer. It breaks canon. The same can be said for Starscreams ghost if they choose to use him in these stories. At the time of 1984-85 when Ghostbusters save the city, Starscream was not a ghost yet. Remember that happened after 2005 when Galvatron killed him. And then he was blasted into space. And by that time the Ghostbusters would be old men already. So once again, it would break canon. Thats why I said the whole concept of adding Gozer was stupid. Tge fact that I dont read comics was irrelevant to my point. What I meant by "serious" is that it makes sense and stays canon. And you gotta admit crossovers keep getting more and more silly. Maybe its a comic book thing, so naturally its not my cup of tea.

Gozer and his kin are legit gods and demi-gods which can traverse dimensions. Vigo was just an insanely powerful wizard in life and got super charged by a negative emotion river of slime on a small speck of dust on the cosmic scale of things. Gozer was given his first defeat in all of his existence by 4 guys with nuclear backpacks in 1984. Vigo was offed by an angry mob in the 17th Century and again as a ghost haunting a painting in 1989/1990 (it was New Year's).

So... angry Harry Potter painting or a literal God of Destruction? Hmm... yeah, no, gonna go with the god of destruction for the more threatening villain.

The Ghostbusters comics have nearly a decade of their own continuity which involve repeated run-ins with Gozer and Gozer’s sister Tiamat.

As for the Transformers, this is probably not the Transformers continuity of any established universe (much like how the Star Trek version averted TFTM because of Star Trek’s late 20th century earth events) but if it is the G1 cartoon continuity (which debatably includes Beast Wars) then you already have Starscream’s ghost time traveling to points before Starscream’s death in Beast Wars and Japanese storylines.

And they have reused Vigo as well as new villains but Gozer has been a universe crossing villain who has been treated as a multiversal singularity similar to Unicron and Primus in the Transformers Multiverse or Darkseid and the New Gods in the DC Multiverse.

Canon doesn't really apply here since *neither* franchise has ever met the other. The GB and TFs meeting would be in it's own universe (one where Gozer *hasn't* been defeated yet and possibly one where Starscream was iced earlier than in it's own timeline). Especially as it's officially acknowledged by Hasbro that there are, in fact, multitude of TF continuities (each with it's own Unicron evidently) so why does this one have to adhere perfectly to either franchise's history?

I agree with Shepard Prime on this one. Rated X is correct on one point. Gozer was defeated and the gateway destroyed....on Earth. The Ghostbusters didn't destroy Gozer they just sent it back through the gate and then slammed the door shut forever. Gozer has visited countless worlds and will continue to visit countless more. Having said that, canon doesn't really apply when it comes to crossover events. Let's all keep in mind that this is a story being created as a background to sell a singular toy and a limited series comic book. I wouldn't expect too much in the area of plot or canon points. Accept it for what it is, and enjoy it if you want, or don't.

    Huh.

    Cautiously optimistic.

I do like the idea that Gozer the Traveler appears on Cybertron after being turned away from Earth. That\'s a neat concept that can be spun out into as many crossovers as you\'d like.

Send Gozer to the Forgotten Realms!

I love how the Ghostbusters comics usually look more like screenshots from a well done cartoon instead of looking like a comic.

Unless Kup can die... then it's canon

Go watch "The LEGO Movie" it'll teach you how toys are meant to be fun, and there is no right or wrong way to play with them.

The G1 original animation-style artwork has me contemplating comics again, which I haven't purchased since Dreamwave. The Ghostbusters crossover theme ruins that feeling very quickly.

I bet there is 100% someone who lifted the bones of Gozer's arrival and transposed it into their D&D campaign, lol

As an outsider I go by the canon that the movies establish. Cant speak on obscure storylines.

I prefer whats logical based on established movie continuity. People will always re-write stories in comic form, but the movie continuity is the true baseline for the franchise. Especially for outsiders and non-hardcore fans.

People re-write stories within the actual continuity of the cartoon and the movie itself as TFs has a *long* history of contradicting itself so I don't really see the need to get that hung up over it. I'm not a huge crossover fan myself but this could work for me, it may not.

That said, it's well noted that you have no intention of touching this with a Unicron sized pole. Surely you don't need to pontificate further on it as you'd just be doing it for the sake of.

I like the Quintesson nod, in the Gozerian Temple. I wonder how they will tie the two.
