Expected since it is the 21st film in the franchise. At this point, there's not much else they can do that is revolutionary. I'm not even expecting Endgame to be better than Infinity War. Well, unless Silver Surfer shows up and it all like, BAMBAMBAMSWOOSHBAMSWOOSHIMAWESOMEBAMBAMBAMSWOOSH. The only reason Carol Danvers exists in my book is so they can properly give Rogue her powers in the new X-Men film franchise that will happen.
Okay thus far... Rotten Tomatoes, it dropped from 91% to 89%. Captain Marvel (2019) (Critic scores only btw) The Guardian, Vox and Facebook score it 3/5. Captain Marvel review – Brie Larson kicks ass across the universe Captain Marvel deserves a better movie Captain Marvel Metacritic gives a score 68 when first release, it now stands at 67 Captain Marvel CosmicBookNews calls is unworthy and disappointing. First Captain Marvel Review: Cold, Disappointment, Unworthy French a voir lire gave it a 1 star out 4 Captain Marvel - la critique du film SC reviews reads the english translation of said article I had seen many videos thus far all morning, and is 2:05 PM to even make count now. But the vibe I get is between Average Okay to Meh.
I find it interesting how so many people are trying to prove how mediocre this film is, but never have done so with any others. Not all MCU are going to be WS quality. I could have told you from the first footage we saw of this it was going to be meh. I'm not sure why so many are relishing in this fact.
Right. Honestly, a lot of the MCU films are fairly mediocre. As in, they are fine, but nothing to get super excited about. This is hardly the first one. Just off the top of my head I would say both Ant Mans, GOTG2, Ragnarok, and Dr. Strange all qualify.
Actually, all this Rogue vs. Marvel/Danvers talk finally made me realize something -- after Endgame, I'm ready to move past all of the Avengers-tier heroes. I want to see the MCU X-Men, in all of their colorful costumed glory... As for Captain Marvel, I really think this movie is coming out at the wrong time. It's basically a prequel to all the of the MCU, except for CA:TFA, and it's weird that it's coming out right before Endgame. I really wish they would have planned that out a little bit better.
Yep, it never happened with movies like TLJ or GB16. Personally, I prefer Metacritic's non-binary system compared to RT's up/down style. Captain Marvel This. Marvel is getting the X-Men and F4 back, use them properly.
I think the OP is referring to MCU films, not all films in general. And we all know there were folks who wanted those films you list to fail for the same reason they want this one to.
Because it's the first one Disney screwed up marketing. It's not hard to figure out. Really? The same people who liked TFA suddenly hated TLJ for that particular reason? That is an interesting theory. Most of the complaints I heard were along the lines of "Rian Johnson is a hack." Strange.
86% on RT is roughly what Infinity War got and that movie felt pretty perfect even though I’m sure to a qualified critic it wasn’t. Sounds good to me!
just wondering, how many of the published critical reviews right now are from women? All the Youtube reviews are the same neckbeard drivel. I imagine the perspectives on this movie may end up different for obvious reasons.
I want a new Cap trilogy with him taking on the Serpent Socity. How so? I fail to see how someone's gender could effect their review.
My main problem with the inevitable misogynistic backlash is that it makes it hard to get a reliable review either way to inform whether I go see it straight away or wait for a home release. They make it feel like expressing an opinion is stating your political beliefs which makes it incredibly difficult to discuss the merits of it here. I guess we are all going to have to go back to the old fashioned pre-internet way of seeing it and making up our own minds.
Er, the only thing said on here about the numbers is to look at the actual reviews, or use metacritic.
The VFX sound disappointing, but weren't they supposed to be 90s-styled? Would that have some impact on the film? Sometimes if you use strange VFX it can throw people off.
