Is this a fictitious book for the Ghostbusters comic?

So... they just change the price whenever they want to? This is not worth 50 dollars.

Yeah and the second movie show it to be some kind of computer based thing. In what I recall from the cartoon Egon had that shit memorized.

considering the initial price at gamestop was listed as $49.99 id say that is likely the actual retail price. anything less was earlybird pricing of sorts id assume. also keep in mind that this isnt just a voyager transformer. this is a voyager transformer that basically has to be licensed twice over (Cadillac and whoever owns ghostbusters both have to sign off on this figure), plus it comes with slimer. sure it may not be worth $50 to you, but that doesnt mean there arent extra costs involved beyond your average generations voyager. it is also largely new engineering, only sharing some parts with hotspot (as in this isnt actually a remold)

There are plenty of studio series deluxes and voyagers with licensed vehicle modes. I doubt the Ghostbuster license is that costly. Most new voyagers nowadays have new engineering. Its all arbitrary. They know people are suckers for 80s packaging and they continue to push pricing limits. Look no further than the prices of the recent G1 reissues.

I thought the price was related to a supposed exclusivity? I think most of us don't mind paying more for a limited release that's a bit of a collector's item.

Having said that, if it shows up later in Home Bargains for £12.99 imma gonna step on a church or something...

The cost of the license may depend on the size of the run. If this has a smaller run, any flat component of the license would be distributed across fewer figures.

Also, it seems likely to me that Hasbro has a noncompete with Gamestop not to underprice Ectotron. So they have to raise the price to match GameStop but they can dip when GameStop dips.

I won't be suprised if these isn't a every couple of years thing when they make deal with other companies that have icon cars, knight rider they can do kitt, karr and goliath, BtF deloreon, a-team van, airwolf helicopter. Of course they'll never do batmobiles or dukes of hazard charger.

At this point I'm not sure that anything is off limits, except the General Lee with it's rebel flag.

Agreed, I was wondering why no Batmobile though? Not sure if I missed something there.

Hasbro has rights for certain marvel toys (most marvel toys). Mattel has rights for most of dc toys. I'm pretty sure mattel wouldn't be happy with there biggest toy competitor making a transformer of there licensed toys.

Not anymore. They’ve only got the super hero girls and preschool toy license with the action figure licensing being split between a number of other companies. It’s conceivable Hasbro could acquire the DC license for transforming figures now. Especially if it were a one off for the Collaborative line.

So hasbro deal with marvel also ends in 2020, I guess thats one reason why they crank these waves out so fast.
