UPDATE: I took out my Ironhide and noticed that the wheel moves in the opposite direction to what you'd want for an ankle tilt... It's unclear from the video if the new parts can rotate in the needed direction.

On the other hand, you can see in DNA's promo photos that there seems to be enough "clearance" around the wheel to still use the ankle tilt even with the wheel staying in place.

Exactly Ironhide was my favorite character from the movies. The fact that the toy had a big Grey bumper that looks nothing like the character is jarring. I mean a Black bumper would have been better.. but this kit literally fixes all of the issues.

    Also... Belly bumper mustache... :D

I love the movies always have and everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for it. But besides that... A great many more people care about Ironhide then um... *Scrolls back up, finds name, open's new tab... Goes to TFWiki... uh. Oh right. The quasi Bumblebee rip off with... oh right No one cares about him*... Unless you do... If you care so much about Stinger, you win man you win. But the vast majority don't. So its far more important for Studio Series to get Ironhide right. But now that I think about it ton's of people complained about Stinger. There is no doubt about it... But far less care about him. So it faded pretty quick.

Just glancing at Ironhide in any point in any of the movies and then glancing at SS Ironhide you can clearly see that bumper isn't right. On top of that he is a smaller voyager which means they could have taken a little more care in making the bumper look slightly better. If there wasn't a demand for a bumper or ankle tilts this kit wouldn't exist. But clearly there is a large majority wanting this kit... But on that note... Y'all watch when they make SS DOTM Ironhide they are going to redo some parts because they know it wouldn't sell if they didn't do it.

Also Studio series set the bar high. Not us... They said Universal scale and Photo realistic as possible. They have worked miracle with some... Megatron, Starscream, Grimlock, Jazz, and Blackout... But by comparison Ironhide looks pretty derpy with the belly bumper mustache.

Had the bumper been black... Might not have stood out as much. There's several mods that are not even that hard to do that i've considered. Also popping pins is extremely easy. But getting a pin popper specifically for it is amazing!

This kit is great and a godsend. Slow you're roll man. Don't like it don't buy it. There is clearly a demand... and on top of that... Guns, knives, new ankle tilts. Keep the goofy ass looking bumper on there if you want the kit is solid gold. I bet anyone would buy that bumper and pin popper off of you for half the price of the kit.

In the very specific case of SS DOTM Megatron hollowness is bad but hardly noticeable unless you turn him to the side... Then its rough... (Shocker an add-on kit was wanted and needed.) But you can take the guns from over the top of his shoulders and swing them around to cover the gaping hole... Oh you don't want to do that because the gun's look good on top of the body... oh so you do like silhouettes of figures.

Quality is what we expect now. SS is dipping in said thing because they are dropping certain things like solid not not hollow, or wrist swivels, or ankle tilts. HAS/Tak needs to reup their game because the quality is faltering. Megatron, and Ironhide are prime examples.

Also for anyone worrying about this... Here it is live... 1 minute and done.

My favourite part of Ironhide's character arc in the movies was the time he was slightly behind and to Prime's left and had no lines.

I think the real challenge this kit presents is finding an Ironhide for it.

So I'm guessing SS Ironhides are hard to come by? I found one at a Meijer and only bought it because I had unsuccessfully been hunting for Siege figures all day, was adamant about leaving with a new figure and Ironhide was the only one I saw that looked decent to me. I never realized he was a hard find at this point.

I got one in the UK after this thread started. Of course, the reason I can still get one over here is that the shops don't export beyond Europe, which thins the market down considerably.

Online he is expensive 40 to 50... Plus that kit to make him perfect. I don't think he'd be worth 100 bucks. I personally only ever saw him on store shelves once.

That’s the thing... by the time you drop the necessary coin for SS ‘Hide and the kit you might as well wait for the inevitable Black Mamba Ironhide

My thoughts exactly, hell for the prices of SS Ironhide you may as well get the MPM knockoff

There is a DOTM Ironhide coming so by SDCC you will have a new Ironhide you can get and it will just be the same figure slightly remolded ala Optimus from the Studio series.

Yep, it’s pretty much the perfect upgrade kit.

I’m super tempted to go with this kit for Ironhide. Although if the SS DOTM Ironhide is a retool (like they did with Prime) that has a cleaner undercarriage on the truck mode and improved ankle articulation then I’d be sold on that. Until that gets revealed though I’m leaning towards this upgrade kit and SS-14.

Oh snap. I picked up an SS-14 at EB today on sale for $17, got it because it looked great and was on sale. I'm totally ordering this kit!
