Is Megatron taller than Optimus?



Or is this more correct

 

i'd like for Megatron to be a little bit taller and bigger to emphasize his gladiator/warrior/slave background and the threat he poses. in the picture above, Megatron would be a little taller than Bay's because his body is bent forward. But, yes, i'd prefer him to be taller and larger than Optimus

i also did some tinkering with Megatron's XM statue face. i know i've been impartial with Cybertronians having noses. i did not have any problem with it, but if they went with rough designs from Transformers Prime and go with them not having noses, i'm alright with that too. to make it more realistic, i hope we get this kind of Megatron face. With that, Megatron does not look too human anymore, which i think is the way to go for the reboots.

 

I suppose in general, Megatron is just a bit taller.

But Megatron has had so many alternate modes.

 

In the Bayverse, years-and probably because Bay and Co. weren't thinking about scale. I recall reading years ago that Bayverse Optimus stood at somewhere between 28' - 32' tall, and that Bayverse Megatron stood supposedly at 35' feet tall (according to magazine articles and TFWiki). Funny enough, Megatron looked taller and much bigger, but OP and the writers kept easily killing Megatron off.

In future incarnations, to me, it would be sensible if Megs and OP were similar heights so they can face off against each other, much like the classic Sherman Dam fight scene.

 

That's one of the worst face sculpts I've seen for Megatron. The rest of the statue is great, but I can't get over how awful that face sculpt is.

 

imo it actually looks pretty good... i remember they tried so many concept art before the 2007 movie of what Megatron should look like. Out of all the Megatron face designs, the one from XM trounces everything else, so far that i've seen.

well, there's Megatron Prime 1, which i liked before I'd seen the Imaginarium sculpt. after a close look, i thought Imaginarium's face design was better. Maybe the best Megatron face design would incorporate the best parts of all these. this is the Prime 1 design.



in my search, i have not seen any other Megatron designs that were as good as those. the ones were from the Bayverse, and to be honest, these look horrible as hell



the one from TLK is decent, but nothing really extraordinary. it still fmore or less followed the mold of the Bayverse Megatron with monster/beast/mountain man face.

 

I think Optimus is 30 feet tall and Megatron is 35 ft. In the second scale chart picture, I don't think Optimus is that small. His head should at least reach Megatron's shoulders and he is a bit broader. Like how they were in Transformers Prime.

 

To me, XM's face sculpt looks too much like a metal version of the Hulk with a helmet. Now, I do like the Prime 1's head sculpt better which is pretty much a modern take on G1, however, I wouldn't mind some creative liberty taken. I'm curious to see what Travis' Megs will look like.

 

yes. that XM face does look kind of like Hulk's. the mouth is too pronounced (no pun). if it's scaled down a bit, that could probably work.

 

Megatron seems fixed at 35ft. Optimus alternates between 28 to 32ft, but mostly 28.

 

In the first movie Megatron seems to tower over everyone, so I'd say that second image looks more accurate. I think he shrinks throughout the series, to the point that the first image is probably more accurate by ROTF or DOTM.

 

I agree. However, I think Optimus was not so small in size. Megatron may be one head taller than him in the first movie, but I think Optimus was broader than the second image. Maybe like Blackout or Bonecrusher size.

 

XM statue face simply is too much of a Hulk/Apocalypse face. Large mouth, wide jaw and chin. Typical for Megatron is elongated face with pronounced cheek bones, the sharp facial lines. Even the Bayverse face followed this to some extent.

It doesn't need to look human but it does need to invoke Megatron and the XM first head sculpt is failing at this.

 

Is he even confirmed to work on another TF movie? I know there were rumors about Bumblebee 2 starting early production.

 

No, he's not confirmed to be returning, but it was confirmed Megatron was originally part of the movie and his G1-esque CG model was seen in the Hoover Dam before that scene was cut out. By the way, there are no rumors of Bumblebee 2. You are thinking of the rumored film that will take place in the same universe as Bumblebee which may be Bumblebee 2, a ensemble Transformers film, or any other possibility.

Even if Optimus is smaller than Megatron, he still kicks his a**  

 

I've always preferred Megatron being taller to show his raw strength and power compared to Optimus.

 

Isn't Megatron 35ft? I do agree Optimus is 28ft though. Reminds me of TFP where you clearly see Megatron is taller than him.
