I'm guessing someone will make filler plates for his feet, but I'm curious how much of a problem it's really going to be with a 3 3/4 inch or so figure.

It's not the hollowness that bugs people, it's the entire rear section. Seeing how the feet panels looks like it's pinned in, entire feet replacement parts might be the way to go.

And turn him into an actionmaster? The feet contain the car doors, just like MP21. The difference is MP21 doors broke down into nice little squares his door doesn't. People keep saying this is such an easy fix, yeah if you plan on going in and rearranging everything, there's not just enough room.

Yeah... I'm wondering if instead of buying MP-45 and then add ons, some fans might just be happier with a non-transforming, highly robot accurate, highly posable figure for like $80 or something.

I mean he would make a pretty good actionmaster MP if you removed all that stuff, but if you want him to transform and keep his proportions and articulation , I don't think there such a thing as an "easy" fix. If they could have Sunstreaker'd him yeah, alot more could have been cleaned up, but he's not turning from a sleek Countach into a robot, but a short, chubby ,roundish VW into a robot, it just wouldn't work.

Oops they have him listed as 5 in, I had him next to a 4 inch high box and he was tad shorter, so maybe I'm wrong

I wasn't saying that the feet should be replaced with non transforming feet. There are many 3rd party upgrade companies that make fully compatible and transformable parts, this would be a snap for them.

Yup, I posted right after seeing the NY Toy Fair photos and video. Night and Day! The face/head look much better the liner in the mouth helps alot. The feet arent quite as bad, but still not ideal and the backpack is something I can deal with. You can really see G1 Bumblebee in the NY Toy Fair pics. I even preordered a 3rd after seeing these images :O

I might be the only one thinking about this but I really hope there's a way to attach the jet pack that came with MP21 Gold to our new MP45. I don't expect it to snap on tight but maybe have some creative way of " fan-moding" it on. Hate to let a good accessory go to waste and the new one doesn't have that many extras. [IMG]

(I just posted this in the positive discussion thread, but it probably belongs here too.)

Since we'll probably be waiting a while for new pictures, here are some decent-quality screen grabs from a couple of the videos taken at New York Toy Fair - some from a video by Collecticon, others from a video by Graig Weich of BeyondComics TV. What's nice about the latter is that the camera is moved around the face while in focus, so you get the head from a good few angles (and it looks decent).

The face sculpt has been amazingly improved since when we first saw it. He looks exactly like Bumblebee, now.

But the feet still need work. In some photos, the glass parts are hinged up higher, and it doesn't look as bad. But in these recent photos, they're back to looking awful.

I wonder what the odds are of them addressing the feet before release. It's pretty clear that most of us are unhappy with it.

People often don't realize how good Takara's head sculpts are. It's very difficult to capture a character's "essence" when you try to model a 3D object based off of 2D design. And judging from previous MP interviews, I have no doubt the designers went through multiple iterations to refine this head sculpt.

As for engineering, if the abundance of cartoon style MP Primes out on the market is a tell, I'm sure from the day it was announced some 3rd designer was already drawing up schematics for their version of toon Bumblebee. Let;s see how they can do differently.

Pretty sure his feet are the same size as MP-21's.

    So I
So I guess that makes this the MP-45 negative discussion thread? :D
Going forward, does that mean a separate thread will be created for upcoming Takara MP releases when the original thread has too many criticisms?
I wonder if that means XTB Ollie v1 and Apollyon will each get a positive thread.
