We weren't being objective, it was all subjective. We each posted which figures we personally liked most, which explains how the lists vary among members.

 

Shin... you're in the DC area, yeah? I think I remember you from the VA sightings thread a million years ago.

I didn't see the individual lists, that would've settled the subjectivity question.

 

Brawl mold great figure, simplistic and fun. That is what makes a good legends figure. Able to transform it in a few seconds and good esthetics. Legends class figures deserve their own admiration. Deluxes are the bulk of figures and the Voyagers and Leaders make the lists way too easy.
When it comes down to it, a good transformer is a total package. Bringing the nostalgia, like Legends Cosmos or Powerglide while bringing a new and more modern transformation as well as being screen accurate. Yet still have that vibe of being a smaller sized figure. As are the original g1 minibots.
Of the late figures Beachcomber really brings it all. I remember the G1 toy "my best friend had him". I feel Seaspray is a bit less good still great. Other than that we haven't seen many, and the new line has no legends sadly. I do hope they return. Since that little package of plastic toys brings a lot of joy.

 

Yeah. The Legends class figures are also just plain adorable. I wish we had gotten a G1 accurate Warpath though.

 

I feel like this list would be better if everyone chose a figure from each scale/line. Best Legends, best Voyager, best MP, etc.

It's not really fair comparing an MP to a Legends figure, for example - $100-500 versus $10. Gee, I wonder which one makes the top of the list?  

Which is to say, it severely disadvantages the smaller or cheaper toys from the credit they deserve. As someone who can't afford MP Dinobot, I couldn't care less that he's made so many top spots. I'm not going to get him. But I'd love to hear what some of these guys think when it comes to best Deluxe or Voyager. Certainly, the last entry mentioning Dropkick was incredibly helpful. Dropkick is an excellent toy, and features an awesome, fairly rare alt mode!

 

I think you make good points, and it isn't fair to put low price figures up against high price.
Value for your buck would be what many might say. Yet 3rd party never makes toys. Except for perhaps the KO oversized figures. Hastak and in particular Hasbro has to comply with toy specs. For "small parts vs children", paint chipping, breaking of their toys and sharp parts sticking out.
It is why for example Kickbacks antennae are rubbery plastic. Why limbs and other " high stress parts" are made out of unpaintable plastic. Simply to avoid damage to the toy and to the "child" user. It serisouly hampers Hasbro and in extension Takara from doing the same as 3rd party does, which only makes high end figures. And then put them up in a contest is unfair and in my opinion dishonest.
Grab an MP figure and put that next to 3rd party.

 

Several of our picks came from voyagers and deluxes, though. Speaking for myself, I speak with my wallet. If I pass up several Legends to buy a Masterpiece, I've inadvertently spoken (having said that, I actually did purchase most of the Legends figures).

I think you're right when you say that it would be helpful to pick a figure from each size class. However, we're just doing this for fun, and part of that fun for us is to rank everything produced and make choices that way.
