I was thinking the same. I think it’s becuase it’ll be out about the same time as the launch or because it looks Cybertronian
Look that that Megatron - wait, no... who\'s the artist?! You\'re not supposed to draw the 5mm pin holes!
This reboot should have used the more aesthetically pleasing Evergreen/ Cyberverse designs rather than the Siege designs: the artists are illustrating toy figures, not mechanical beings. The plot reveals do sound rather fan fiction-y. I am really hoping I’m wrong. If not, prepare yourselves: “The Secret Infinity Flashpoints Across Multiple Dark Cybertrons” will allow a course correction. Unfortunately this kind of jarring reset is plaguing the comics industry as a whole. Crossing fingers for good things to come.
Ya know the term fan fiction has pretty much lost its definition by now since everything is written by people who grew up as fans of what they’re working on. It’s also a G1 continuity, not cyberverse. What you’re wanting with using those designs leads to confusion and the inability to make a possible Cyberverse comic. And some of them were used in the last 2 years of the original IDW-VERSE. Again avoid confusing new readers who are coming into a brand new universe
1). Fan Fiction normally involves the overuse of plot points/ tropes that fail to evolve any franchises narrative. Hence my use of the phrase Fan Fiction-y as well as my hopes for being proven wrong. Case in point: Star Wars cannon Darth Vader(established narrative) and Star Wars EC Darth Vader (fan fiction). EC Darth Vader is an unstoppable monster; a fountain of such great power he can guarantee his armada’s victory vía meditative thought vs Canon Darth Vader, a broken and twisted cripple in a scary tin suit. Only one of these can further progress heroic narratives of hope, revenge and finally, redemption established in earlier films. The other is simply an amalgam wish list for a well liked character that, sadly is removed from any further progression by default. 2) Read New Readers as Newer, Younger Fans. Yes, it is a bitter pill to swallow; as a Gen Xer, I have loads of experience with this. The newer, younger fan base is already familiar with the Cyberverse designs and should have no problems recognizing said characters upon first glance. CV TFs were clearly developed with characterization in mind, where as the Siege designs are clearly designed as Merchandise-First in mind. Case in point: Shockwave. Siege Shockwave transforms into a Command Fleet battleship: as a toy, it’s quite the delightful Easter Egg ; for the purposes of World Building, however, this introduces quite a sticking point: why bother building spacecraft if any member of your species can simply become one? Cyberverse designs = characters designed for long term use across various merchandise And media (including comics). Siege designs = characters designed for selling a specific merchandise/ toy line. Only one is best suited for carrying a comic book in the long term with flexibility for world building and is familiar enough for catering to the next generation. The other is best used for niche collector merchandise.
“A cosmic epic of grand scale” kind of jumping to conclusions a bit to soon there don’t ya think I mean all the promotion material looks pretty good but it’s a bit soon to be 100% certain just yet. Also perhaps I’m being a bit abstract here but I seem to recall that Optimus Prime has had issue 6 as his spotlight before back in phase 2 in the IDW Robots in Disguise storyline. How many times does something need to happen for it to be a thing?
Bee and all the minicars are conspicuous in their absence in Siege. Guess they'll be featured more in whatever WFC part two is.
Maybe the minicars will replace the patrols for WFC 2 Electric Boogaloo? Or maybe Part 3? OR maybe the sequel to WFC, on Earth?
While I said I embrace hasbro and IDW teaming up and using you designs this my only gripe. Anytime a character is going to appear people will be saying “new toy confirmed!!!”
