Is it just me, or do a lot of these figures look really... glossy? like the paint was put on way too thick or something. It could be the super harsh display lighting but they all have the same shimmery look that warhammer models do when you dont thin the paint properly... Dont get me wrong im down for nice bold colors, but if we\'re going for some realism with the battle damage (which looks, for the first time, totally wonderful on Springer with the drybrushing effect on the edges) then i think it would only be fitting the theme if we made them look a little more matte.

 

Scale, honestly. The main appeal for me with all of Siege has been the unified scale. I'm even willing to forgive half of the Micromaster patrols being gone because of it(for now. =p). I think that the unified scale bringing every character together is a lot stronger of a draw to me. With that said, Siege Springer is hella purdy on his own.

They're painted samples rather than production models. We won't see the figures looking like that on the shelves.

 

Bot and helicopter mode on T30 Springer are great, car mode, not so much IMO. Beyond being weirdly out of scale, it just didn't look right to me. I am more accepting of the boxy G1 "armored vehicle" in voyager size than I am of something that looks a lot like a regular car, but is too large.

 

Yeah, probably a mix of them being painted samples and photography and lighting.
On a parallel note, I think I'm in the minority when I say I kinda like the extra battle damage paint. Its never looked great in photos, but I think it adds some texture when in hand.

 

I never got the T30 one, but this one just looks more like how Springer looks to me, overall.

 

I haven't had much of a problem with the battle damage. The damage on the grey parts of Optimus look a little weird and like they're meant to be camouflage, but the damage on his shoulders looks fine to me. It doesn't really bother me at all. I can see how some might be turned off by it, but I've got no major complaints.

 

Yes. And it’s a big step in the right direction. Still too much human crap though.

 

I just placed a bunch of pre-orders for Siege. I haven't been this excited for mainline releases in ages. My display is starting to look cramped already!

They're CAD models, not actual photos. The way they're rendered gives them that glossy finish.

As nice as the \'new\' retool of Siege Prime looks, in my opinion it can\'t beat the original Cybertron/Galaxy Convoy mold. That\'s probably one of my all time favorite figures, and this new-ish mold just seems like a downgrade to me more than anything.
