But that’s exactly what they did. Model kits based off the robot modes. Don’t transform. We found that out almost instantly.

@fishpop, if you want to fit these pieces into your budget, just give up something, like no beer or alcohol of x period of time, or no buying fast food or expensive lunch to balance off the cost. I understand that not everyone can drop $300+ on multiple pieces of basically useless metal and plastic, but if somebody drops X for Y, like quite smoking cigarettes, the money saved will be enough to buy whatever. (Now I say this as a person who does not smoke or drink alcohol, but have treated many patients that were addicted to whatever drug, so I gave and understand that it is easier to say then do, buy think about it, two months of money saved equals a nice brand new light up Tarn).

Tyrantron is inspired by, but not the same thing. Shoulders are different. Fusion Cannon is different. Alt mode is nothing like a tank. I’m looking for the real McCoy.

Also he never actually used that tank mode. And lost light megatron seemed more like a jet guy. But that’s just me.

    thats

    ...

    no.

If ANYTHING Optimus would exist in the Super Robot Genre, not Real Robots. So he'd be more a Mazinger or a Big O or somesuch.

And I could customise a figurerise Vegeta into an Optimus. Don't make him a Saiyan.

I like that figure. I want that figure. But the alt mode is a joke and the posability somewhat hampered. The Furai one looks like the comic design to a tee. So if you want the best representation of that specific character, it's more accurate and a third of the price.

It's really an excellent figure. All third party figures have to be "inspired by" because they don't have the license from Hasbro. Fans Toys had that issue with their Grimlock because it was TOO Grimlock for retailers to sell it without Hasbro getting mad at them. The alt mode is admittedly after thought-feeling, but MTMTE Megatron hardly ever transforms if at all and he only ever used his fusion canon once in MTMTE. As for the poseability, he's not quite a figuarts, but he has a damn good range of motion and is one of those figures that looks good in damn near any pose. Sorry for trying to make a suggestion.

I don't drink/smoke/etc, i'm just impatient and would rather get several cheaper items rather then save up for something pricier. :/
TBH, despite how cool these Flame Toys figures are; they'd just be a cool novelty that'd be displayed for a while and then put away in their box likely to never see the light of day again so i'm fine with not having them.
The FT model kits however are a different story as they're far cheaper and i've recently really gotten in to model building since my recent fascination with Gundam model kits or "Gunpla" as they've been officially titled. (You can blame my love of Gunpla on Pun-3x's TF/Gundam photocomic that's here on TFW)

No apologies needed, my friend. Suggestions are always welcome. It’s a part of why we’re here.

Really because I never once heard the words model kit or robot mode only till toy reviewers started pointing that out. When these things were first announced all we got were pictures of the figures with little information. I even saw a review where the packaging was shown and no where on that packaging was it indicated that the figure doesn't transform. I don't know how finding out from reviewers months after they were announced qualifies as finding out almost instantly.

@fishpop, I understand the need, but personally I can wait and I actually prefer having higher quality and price pieces (hot toys and MP takara and 3p). I have bought some of the new Seige line, mostly for nostalgia purposes, buying a Optimus Prime and Megatron that are similar to the G1 counterparts in 2019 was a good experience, until you open them and they do not have that feel. I think MP and 3p pieces have made me expect everything to be at that quality. Also, on most new items I can wait until there is at least a 15% off sale.

I’ve been following the Flame Toys figures since they were first announced and the press has always made it clear that they aren't transforming. Go to any thread here regarding them and you will find people bitching about it. At great length.

They’ve also never shown an alt mode for any of them, which is a pretty essential part of a transforming toy.

I’m sorry that you missed that fact and now feel cheated, but it wasn’t because the information isn't wasn’t available.

Just because there's no pictures of an alt mode doesn't mean there isn't one... especially when we're looking at prototypes of toys that haven't even been released yet. A lot of MP figures were innitally shown just their robot modes. Dinobot, Megatron, Cheetor, right now there's a Blackarachnia we haven't seen the beast mode for yet. All that means is they haven't taken photos of it not that it doesn't exist.

Hell for PotPs we had full color photos of Rodimus Prime and Optimus Prime before we got any pictures of Hot Rod or Orion Pax. They're the same freaking figures but their different modes were released at different times. I never really saw Hot Rod's robot mode without the armor till just a couple weeks before release but we still knew it existed months in advance because they told us.

And all of these examples are from toy lines that transform. One would not be remiss in assuming that they transform based on the fact that the other toys in the line transform.

Flames Toys Drift and Furai Model Prime and Starscream attack mode have bern out for quite some time and it’s clear they don’t transform.

Hasbro doesnt sell licenses for toys that transform. If it’s a licensed third party figure it’s not going to transform. I wouldn’t expect everyone to know that, though.

This is a case of a consumer who made an assumption that turned out to be wrong, than got angry and decided it was ‘false advertising,’ instead of them just being ignorant and making a mistake. It’s an honest mistake, but it certainly isn't false advertising, which implies malicious intent on Flame Toys part.

Anyways, I can’t wait to see color prototypes of the Kuro Kara Kuri Optimus and Megatron. I collect Gundam metal builds and I’d love to have Transformers mbs. Even if they don’t transform. And the IDW Optimus and Megatron model kits are sooooo going to be mine, because I love those designs and I’m gonna pose them waltzing. (And phooey on MMC for not doing an IDW Prime yet, I’ve been using their Machine Wars Prime as a stand in, and while he's a fine toy it’s just not the same.)
