Sideswipe is my favourite deluxe from Wave 1 and one of my favourite TFs I've picked up in a long time. Simple yet effective transformation, no Kibble of backpack to hide all the car parts. This is the G1 update that I've been waiting for.

    I should buy this guy.
Mainly because my KO MP Sideswipe is a bad knockoff due to his crotch area being reversed and his joints are too loose. Sense his crotch area is reversed, he cannot go in his alt mode.
But this guy looks amazing! Hopefully they make a Sunstreaker!

Misassembled crotch is easy to fix - the only thing you need is proper screwdriver. Loose joints require little more effort - some floor polish, dropper and paper towels. The real issue is he's packed in vehicle mode (with misassembled crotch), so parts get warped and the result is vehicle mode that has huge gaps where parts do not line up properly (due warped plastic parts).

About Siege Sideswipe, very nice incarnation, though, once I got all deluxes, surprisingly, Hound feels superior. Though, it might be because my Sideswipe suffers some QC issues (seems like QC issues are very common in case of this line) - has quite large splash of silver paint on the left side of head and his right thigh swivel didn't work because of mold flashes (had to scrape mushroom peg with sharp knife to remove it). I'm also worried about these panels (these with "battle damage") on his lower legs - on my figure these peg very tightly, I fear the tab holes will develop stress marks quickly.

Woooooow - I finally got this guy this week, delivered alongside a POTP Jazz I picked up on clearance. Opening both at the same time just really hammered home the difference in quality, materials and sturdiness. Very impressive.

I have pretty much liked every Siege release so far, so a new Astrotrain will be cool, but not really my first choice for another 'con leader. I am especially curious what they would do with him though since all the leaders have armoring up gimmicks which didn't really fit Shockwave.

Yeah, I've only transformed mine 3 times and it's already not tabbing in tight anymore.

Hoping for a running change that fixes it. It’s a great figure but this problem really sours him.

I wonder if trimming the tab might be the answer (I'm too chicken to try it). I THINK (could be wrong) that the problem is that the tab is hitting the waist joint's mushroom-peg inside the slot.

Nope, I had the same thought a couple of weeks ago and tried trimming the peg, then pegging it with the mushroom peg completely removed. I also heated up the whole section with a heat gun and bent it slightly thinking it might fit more snugly, and that didn’t work either. :(

Gave up collecting TF figures a number of years ago (after DOTM), but this wave brought me back because Sideswipe and Hound are two of my favorite characters. I have the same problem with the hip joint appearing to be fused, and am afraid that they'll break if I use too much pressure. Would love to hear if anyone else has this issue.

If you're not youtuber who calls himself Soundwaveman, then you're not only one - he had this issue on Skytread and Sideswipe, he managed to fix Sideswipe but didn't have luck with Skytread. This line seems to be one of the worst in terms of QC, not that previous were perfect (for example, my PotP Tailgate has issues with car roof/windshield parts - these do not line up correctly in vehicle mode so he rarely touches flat surface with all 4 wheels). If I were you, I'd go to store and ask for refund/replacement, because it's serious issue that most likely you won't be able to fix by yourself.

This is kind of a workaround but I've used tiny 3M adhesive squares that are sticky on both sides. It's clear instead of bluetack. Found them at Target. You can cut them down even smaller and apply it to the surface that needs to stick. It's a dust magnet but small enough where it could possibly be hidden. I haven't gotten SIEGE Sideswipe yet but I might apply a square to mine to see if it helps when I buy it. A pack of those squares is like $3 I think. Comes with a bunch.

Thanks. Not a big deal as he'll spend his days sitting on a shelf, but it is annoying to know that it is a too-common issue. Never seen it before.

BTW - can you post a link to where SWM discussed this issue? Couldn't find it on YouTube. Thanks!

Well, you can't transform him, right? That's serious issue in my opinion, after all you paid for new, undamaged figure, right?

Here's that video I was speaking about.

    Thanks!

And I can transform him. The hips move, but only in unison. It mostly limits some poseability.

Nevermind. The whole hip assembly just fell apart from just moving the hips - which are still glued together.

Why does it have that peg on his chest? Is that for one of the minicons, or whatever, to attach while he is in alt mode?

It’s for the weapon effects of this line to attach to.

Question for future Radiconning. What would we say that head balljoint is? 4mm? I don't have my figure in front of me and I forgot to post this while I was at home.
