I agree with you that overall the FT version looks better, I'm saying they need to get the aesthetics of Silverbolt right. Zeta isn't making a great looking silverbolt, but they are making a figure that looks a lot like him. FT is making an ok looking figure that does not look like silverbolt enough, IMO. If they tweaked some of the references a bit and gave him silverbolt's proportions then FT would have the clear winner, far and away.

Basically, I see more references to this in Zeta's figure than in FT's.

I can't say why we both can look at the same thing and see it differently, but that is just the way of things. I'm just on the other side and see the waist and upper body proportions referenced in the zeta figure, while the FT version is more squared and blocky. I'm not planning on buying either at this point, but I do wish FT would opt to reference the source material as zeta has attempted to and give their silverbolt a stronger representation of the character. For me, MP collecting is about the "feels" as much as it is about the quality. Normally, FT can nail it, but sometimes they do need a hand on some of the finer details.

It's odd that you keep saying zeta looks more like the character, yet you keep posting straight g1 images.

Zeta is a studio ox design, it has a lot of aesthetic elements missing or changed that the cartoon has.

Ft is pulling straight from the cartoon for most aesthetic choices that are present.

Logic would dictate that Ft looks more like the character we grew up with.

Unless of course you just read a studio ox art book over and over again your entire childhood. Which probably didnt exists back then

I hope FT's doesn't have near zero head & neck up/down articulation like Hoodlum.

@botfan, I'm not seeing what you are seeing as to Zeta being a better realization than the FT version. I'm gonna throw this up again.

I am not a FT fanboy and I can acknowledge the FT Silver Bolt as the best one of the two, he also has a better alt-mode.

I've made this argument a lot in this thread, so I guess I'm ok to do it again. First, MP figures are not about making them toon accurate, it's about stylizing them perfectly to capture a modernized G1 representation of the characters. If toon accuracy was the goal of all MP figures, then TT and DX9 would be making the greatest MP figures right now. FT is following the Hasui style of MP design, which does have a lot of updated features and are inspired by toon/toy/comic, but defers to the toon for certain defining aesthetics. Here's an earlier post I did showing my argument for how the proportions are incorrect for this version.
Here is a post I made showing an idealized version of the FT design, but I think all it really needs is 1) his hips should be trimmed at the edges, 2) his upper torso should be elongated, 3) and his shoulders should be higher and wings angled up. BOOM, Silverbolt!
Zeta is at least trying to get the proportions right, but their execution isn't as strong as it could be. FT is very good with their execution, but they're going for the wrong proportions for a true representation of silverbolt. I have been trying to get this point across since the figure was first revealed, but it doesn't look like FT is very receptive, so I would at least like the fans to see it and consider that FT does have to provide premium figures for the price they are charging.

I did this as a quickie edit of the FT figure to show the minimum of what they could change to get a better silverbolt out of this design. I think the zeta figure takes into consideration these proportions I've suggested in this edit.

I wish a company would do the yellow sections of Silverbolt in gold chrome. They did it with the dinobots, why not Silverbolt too?

After the continuing issues with FT’s recent solo releases, I think it would be crazy to expect competent execution with a first-attempt combiner on their end ... not hating, just keeping it 100 ... however, for MP I would ultimately like to have them displayed as combat teams so I’ll just wait til each is thoroughly reviewed and battle-tested before taking the jump ... the combined form will just be the icing for me, but I can get others viewing that as completely ass-backwards ...

Sorry man but i way prefer the ft designs to your suggested ones also i think zeta's effort has an ugly alt mode, just like a box stuck under a jet

You know what? I always thought it was a shame that FT decided to make another Superion instead of a different combiner. Now I'm starting to selfishly think that it's better this way, because if their Superion turns out not great that won't affect me and they can learn the lesson form the folowing characters.

How is the FT one also not a box under a jet? I mean these are the Aerialbots.

I think there is a huge difference between the side photo of mavericks alt mode and zetas one. mqdefault.jpg

You, and anyone else, is free to like whatever they want. The point I am making is it is a poor reference of the source material. Silverbolt was never that blocky and his upper torso never that stubby. I think that point is hard to dispute.
