Its words on the screen, it isnt a direct attack on anybody like you seem to think. Seriously, dude, you're the one acting all aggressive just because people are celebrating the end of the second most controversial period in franchise history.

I am not that aggressive I just thought we could like what we like without being dicks to each other. and for being controversial the movies helped save the franchise by cementing it in the public eye. Transformers would likely be dead if it were not for the bayverse.

Transformers was doing fine before the films. The idea that the films saved Transformers has and always will be an incorrect myth.

    Hey it's a reboot. Cool.

I understand there's a lot of excitement about this. (Believe me, I am excited to see reiterations of different characters as well as new storylines)

    But goddamn, there's toxicity...

I don't like the Amazing Spider-Man movies but why would I give the finger to people who liked them?

I can't say I'm that hyped for Captain Marvel at the moment. They're doing a poor job with marketing that movie.

Really disappointed they\'re just dropping the original film continuity. They weren\'t as bad as haters made them out to be, most were good even (1, 3 and 4 were great, 5 was ok, even 2 was mostly fine), designs were great, and it left off on a cliffhanger that was going to give fans something they asked for for years.

Because Cybertron as a toy line sold well and the filler toy line classics from 2006 sold well? They wouldn't have had the idea of even making the films if the franchise wasnt reliably strong enough to support such an endeavor. How do you know it supposedly WAS dying out as you so claim?

you got me there I do not but from my area it did poorly and given the hatred that was there for the UT it seemed to me like people were losing interest. moreover all my fellow kids were not interested in transformers until the movie came out.

Yeah, you cant just assume how well a line is selling just because your local area seems to be doing. Plus, I've worked retail and stock on shelves can either mean poor sales OR great sales, the latter in that stock refresh has to happen quickly to keep sales going and thus more product on shelf - cant get customer money when there is no product for them to buy (those goddamn hatchimals, man, we couldn't keep up with demand even if we filled an entire end cap with the damn things!)

The hatred for the UT largely comes from Energon which was a truly awful show. Armada gets flak but it does get better with time, while Cybertron is typical kids fare if you ignore that God awful ten episode race bit.

And just because it wasnt in the public eye doesn't mean transformers wasnt popular. It was just another decent toy line until the movies ratcheted up popularity to what I can only presume were borderline G1 hay day levels.

I agree on Energon. but that was my perspective. if I offended you I apologize but there is still no reason to be a dick to fans of the movies.

And I reiterate the point I made in another discussion topic in the Movie section because of a user that kept saying Lorenzo saying this film was a prequel a fact.

Fact 1: Lorenzo said BB is a prequel
Fact 2: Lorenzo is also historically known to be full of sh*t

I like to think of BB as a mini verse that could be both its own thing or a part of the larger headache of movie continuity.

It's just what happens when a movie does so poorly, on top of a horrible, horrible year that trashed the studio. I get it too, I would've loved to see a continuation of TLK as I actually really liked AoE and TLK as mentioned before...but I also said that the franchise desperately needed a reboot after 3 just to keep things fresh and exciting. A disaster like TLK was a matter of when, not if.

To add insult to injury, as soon the new management of Paramount took over, great things happened. A Quiet Place, Mission: Impossible and Bumblebee received critical and commercial success. I'm guessing that the company will try to keep the good momentum going.

Hasbro seems to have greater creative control over their licenses. Hasbro is better focused than they were last year. Not just for Transformers, but for every property. Clearly seen during Toy Fair. They have learned from their mistakes and no longer trying to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. :)

I'm surprised that there are still people naive enough to think that the ideas and plots from TLK would be followed even if the movie didn't flop.

There wouldn't be a continuation any more than TLK was sooooo in line and continuing anything AoE. There never was intent of continuing upon the TLK post credits scene. There was no plan, no long term vision and it was obvious.

Denial is a beautiful thing but can only go so far.

I don't believe it. Am I really flying? Is this a dream? It feels so light and cool. The ounce gaping hole in my heart is filled - I feel whole...

As the great Rocky Balboa said, "It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

10 years. 10 years full of terrible, over the top, frustrating movies. But you know what? I'm glad it all happened because it got us here. A fantastic, self-contained film about love, loss, and finding your voice again changed this entire franchise. I don't know if it's true, but I think the moment Hasbro looked at what Travis did, they found their voice. Thanks to this movie, we have a wonderful cartoon (Cyberverse) and the BEST MAINLINE EVER (WFC:Seige), as well as a promising future of TF movies. I think this franchise finally got back on its' feet after so many hits and blows. I'm so happy Bumblebee is finally getting the treatment it deserves and I can't wait to see how Transformers is going to be in 2025-2030.
