I prefer to see what GT or TFM can do with Superion, "torsoformers" are not what I would call amazing.

While I'm in on the dx9 set for botmode I don't think I have enough room for massive combiners. The combined mode for this looks really good, it's just a little wobbly right?

Agreed. I’ve always preferred combiner teams whose bot & alt modes matched the rest of the characters around them.
Even as an eight-year-old, I never liked it when combiner teams “grew” when they combined. So GT/TFM fits my preferences.

So is this gonna be the only release under the TransFormMission name?

Not drooling, just into zeta combiners because they're the perfect height, the rest of these combiners are too small. I have transformissions stunticons displayed in bot mode, still good figs, just the combined mode is to small.

My Transformission bots are displayed in alt mode and x-transbots stunticons in single robot mode. I don't like Menasor, I think is the ugliest combiner.

    I think that's the situation.

I'm glad you like the Zeta height. If "growing" combiners are what you're in to, more power to ya.

I like the end result for the “torsoformers” was it? I think Kronos and Armageddon look cool, and I like their size. Constructor was also cool in that all 3 are built from bots that are roughly the masterpiece size for the bots. All the G1 toys were so wildly all over the place.

I do feel like you just “wad up” the Onsaught and Silverbolt guys and cram them into the torso without really integrating them into the combiner, but it is a short jump from the Pelvis in Constructor so I can let it slide.

I like Menasor/Havoc the best though because all 4 limbs are cars so they are at least MOSTLY the same size and scale within the team. Face it, a Hum-vee and tank are not the same size, and a space shuttle would also bee quite larger than both. Defensor always bugged me too. A motorcycle and car seem unmatched, and the rescue chopper seems like it should almost the the same size as the fire truck.

    These guys just... match.

This is what turned me off from Zeta. I was okay with the waist and legs being their own thing but when I found out that the leader bots were just turned into a cube and crammed into a torso shell, that' when I lost interest. It's so frustrating that they couldn't even make it transform into the chest and shoulders even. At that point, why event have the fifth big bot. Just make the whole torso and head a non transforming piece. It's 90% there anyway.

It just feels like low effort and lazy to me.

I prefer combiners that are the style you prefer -- when the "torso-bot" is the actual torso. That's why I bought Warbotron's Bruticus, TFM's Menasor, GT's Devastator, Zeta's Volcanicus, and have all of GT's Defensor (so far).

Having said that, I've never been a fan of ascribing laziness to design decision that I don't agree with.
Clearly, Zeta have gotten a message from a lot of collectors: that they prioritize combiners that:
1: Have "correct" scale with other MP figures when separated,
2: Grow to double-size when combined, and
3: Are super stable when combined.

And this extreme parts-forming method is by far the best way to accomplish those three things. Do I like it? no way. But I can't think of a single other way to do what these collectors seem to want without using this method. Can you?

Aren't they essentially the same company (minus a few behind the scenes moving parts) that is currently producing a Protectobot set?

Given that TFM's Motormaster *says* GenerationToy in the fine print on the figure itself... yeah, that's a safe assumption.

I think it's lazy because it is lazy, not because I disagree with the decision. Everything about their transfo
I'm not calling the design lazy because I disagree with their direction. I am calling it lazy because I think they thought; "should we build a stable combiner and make the bots look good with interesting transformations?" And then they said, :screw that, just shove a bot in a shell you peel back and people will buy it since it's big and stable."

With it being a pants former, they could have still made the bots have interesting transformations and look better and still keep things stable. They went the direction of quick and easy in my opinion.

It’s lazy of you to ascribe laziness to design decisions you haven’t thought through yourself.

I have trouble parting with these even though my collection has been refined to basically G1 MPs only. Their alt modes are the only mode I really like, and while the cars lack some details that could have been painted appropriately, the truck is particularly nice and they scale well with MPs.

Zeta's Combaticons have fucking awful bot modes too, and their Aerialbots aren't much better.
