Are we *sure* it comes with two trailers *plus* a huge robot skeleton? The way I see it (as pointed out by someone in some photos a while back) the two trailers form a single base, but you can see from the shape of the molded parts that they also form the skeleton - there are indents where things are meant to clip on (like the shell cars on the arms), and such. So I am expecting just two trailers, not two trailers and an extra skeleton that then fits inside.

Not interested in getting the second trailer TBH.

I am actually more interested on how the combiner parts are stored in the first one and whether you fold the panels together to form the torso

Fansproject were very crafty when storing the combiner parts in the trailer for FP Diesel.

I really don't think so. If the trailers also converted into Menasor they'd be covered in splits seams and hinges just like DX9's is, but these are just simple flat panels pretty much. One opens out like Primes trailer but the roof panels additionally fold down flat and that's clearly all it can do. The other opens sideways and the roof sort of concertinas in. On that one what you do see is a weird shape to the floor. My guess is maybe it's made to fit the Menasor parts that go into it to hold them securely - something like how a styrofoam box has cutouts the shape of what goes inside.

I think/hope one of the trailers can form Menasor's body. Who says it can't flip inside out so as to keep the sides flat? One trailer to convert into Menasor's body and one to throw in the trash.

Is the FT Motormaster the same height as Optimus Prime in robot mode?

I don't know about painted, but I am guessing we'll see something next month during TFCon Burbank.

I think Snaku hit the nail on the head here…
My guess is the BOTH Trailers are not only needed for the Base Mode, but BOTH are also needed to create and combine ALL of Menasor's body.
Once combined, I don't think there will be much, if ANY parts from either trailer unused.

I would be inclined to agree, but as @Liampope points out, there are no visible splits or seams on the outsides of the trailers and they're too big for those panels to just hide away inside Menasor's body.

On the other hand, the shots we have are renders and splits may not be readily visible. Still, we've seen both the inside and outside of both trailers and the one that forms the front of the base has literally nowhere it could be hiding additional hinges. The rear one could maaaaaaybe but they'd be the best hidden hinges I've ever seen... er.. not seen. Pretty sure the trailers are essentially boxes that do nothing more than form a "base" (more like a platform) and serve as storage boxes.

I'm not saying you're wrong… I'm just hoping you are. LOL
The fact that they were only renders is what gives me hope.

If you look at the back of menasors thighs you'll see a hinged panel obviously used to make it slimmer. There would be no reason for that unless it's to fit inside something.
I do like dx9s trailer turning into the body more and I wish xtb would do the same but I'm getting both so nbd.

Yes only renders and very old, but then again right back on day one of this thread it was clear the renders were very mature working models - essentially finished. Not only was transformation engineering done for the individual bots and combined mode, but even design for manufacture and assembly - how all the parts are split for moulding and factory assembly. All pins, screws etc were modelled. The only work in progress was the Menasor skeleton - although engineering was there it lacked full final surface detail. That came a few months later then a few minor tweaks followed like how the faux shells attach - they seemed just floating in the first renders.

That's why me and many others were so sure of the faux car shells and that we'd see them on the final product. You dont get so far then go back to the drawing board and change the whole philosophy. Two figures released now and the others in prototype form and nothing has changed from those renders (except a few manufacture/assembly tweaks here and there). We got a good look at the trailers inside and out in those base mode pics and there's no way they turn into Menasor at all. Based on the above I'd bet good money that is final and won't be changing. If you want that party trick you need to go DX9.

XTB really need to properly reveal the MM set details though!

Yeah, we are probably all invested in the first two bots already, they were so cheap, so it would be nice if XT clearly explains what is going on with Motormaster and his trailers.

I think my bet is that both trailers are needed for combined form. That just makes the most sense. I don't have any other evidence to support that idea at the moment.

That’s what I’m thinking too. It’s what makes most sense for them with the two announced trailers. They have to make both indispensable. That’s also where they’ll charge what they didn’t for Crackup. Just an opinion, of course... like you, have no evidence nor clue as to what they’ll finally do, but it does make sense.

Can you imagine buying your add-on kits, not on Shapeways, but on Etsy? :D
