I don't know.. See some images from the movie have his chest higher, and some have it slanted down more. I guess it just depends. I mean it is entirely possible that these bayformers have moving pieces that adjust as they move, which would make sense. I would say, either works for me, as this is an action figure of the 3D model, and not a functional 3D depiction. So, for me, it is fine as is.

To me, this is not bad at all..




I only wish they could have engineered a better knee cap..

 

Am I the only one that doesn't like the look of joints on unique toys figures? The joints just on the elbows and knees all look really cheap and awkward compared to others.

 

I actually thought the same thing last night when I was looking at them. Their joints are too exposed and angular. The more I look at my MPM figures, the less I like UTs offerings. This one looks like the best out of all 3 in terms of detail, proportions, and posability, so I might still get it, but I'm starting to consider whether or not I really like their figures or if I'm just filling a gap in my collection.

Id rather they use metallic silver paint as the real car has titanium exhaust.

 

ShowZ says this figure is to release late this February I’m hoping it does I’m ready to see reviews on it soon. If the Qc on this guy is superb then it’s a definite buy!

 

Looking good. Hope to grab this guy and add him to the collection. I usually like dx9/ut stuff so not overly worried.

 

You know, I kinda stopped caring about this thing because it indirectly reminds me of TLK but objectively it's a pretty good design which UT seems to have nailed, and I want them to keep these movie bots coming so I guess I'll buy it to support them.

As for this Hot Rod-in-name-only, I'll call him Vitesse. There. New character, zero hatred by association.

No, See I am okay with his TLK design and characteristics. The French accent is funny, and I love his gun that can stop the time! temporarily.

As for his character, I could see a cool edition of him in a future movie under Travis Knight's direction where he has an american accent and Looks a bit more like his 86 movie self. But if he decides to do it in a new modern style 650 MPH car, I would be okay with that.

Put some flames.. Oh yea.. I can see that!

 

I don't even have a problem with his design as Hot Rod though, his character was the issue. Ironhide went from a red van cowboy bot to a black pickup with a fake British accent but the character was 100% Ironhide. I can barely think of any character traits for this guy at all, let alone any he shared with his namesake. Glad you can accept him as Hot Rod, but I'm content calling him a new character.

 

Yeah he didn’t cause Optimus to die in his first aperence in a movie he can’t be hotrod lol

 

Well had he more screen time with Bumblebee that would have established his more teen type adolescent fun and action, I agree with you there. I'm thinking about Hot Rod the entire 86 Movie was more a leader then just another Autobot. One of the coolest scenes was on Quintessa, with Kup, which was cool with him and Grimlock exploring a planet theyve never visited. Or his trek to Autobot city to get behind the defenses before Megatron's assault. I think in TLK there was more a focus for obvious reasons on Prime and Bee..naturally..
But whose to say Travis Knight, may retouch that Bayverse trilogy in the future..he could, and we could maybe finally get an end to that trilogy, with Whalberg. For me, having Hot Rod with a 20 something Daniel, like a young Shia Lebouf would be cool. Have a movie set in the aftermath of TLK some 30 years later. Daniel Witwicky is with Hot Rod on an adventure with the Earth Autobot space alliance. Unicron wasnt earth but a beacon to call it. Quintessa is only 1 of that AI race there are more. Optimus commands Neo Cybertron which now Orbits Saturn, and Star Saber is commander of the space colony in Alpha Centauri. Ultra Magnus is in command of Autobot City on Earth. That would be a great star wars type Macross feel to the movies set in the future. 2040s and it could set the stage for the wildest 3 part movie set after the last Bayverse trilogy wraps up, for an epic style WWII type space battle with the remnant decepticons and evil Quintessons, vs humanity in space and the Autobots.

I think someone should make some stickers for the eyes. I would rather make his eyes look like they did in the movie, then have the stupid light piping. I think Light piping features suck. what they should do is light reflective paint that glows in the dark, that would be even better.
