This could be bad for her son.

 

I mean it's probably ineffective and undoubtedly odd, but they're not "victims" by any stretch based on the description. Why does this need to be national news?

 

People love to see other people get humiliated publicly. Can't get bigger than this.

I just hope the guy doesn't get so embarrassed that he considers suicide.

Uh...that really sucks. I genuinely feel bad for the poor guy. It's bad enough to have issues in that department (whatever they may be!) on your own, but to have your mother put it on blast and have it make national news is just beyond the pale. Good grief, the torment that must be in his mind right now. Ugh.

I'm sure she meant well...somewhere...but this is not how you do it. Yikes.

No but seriously, isn't this sort of thing kind of common in other parts of the world? Parents playing matchmaker, going through their social circles and connections to figure out if anyone has any viable candidates and acting as a sort of 'first screen' for their kid? This lady might not have any connections in the area, and took a more direct approach.

It's odd to us, and maybe I'm making an assumption, but it looks like maybe this lady wasn't born in North America (and is in her mid 50s), so maybe she's just working off a different understanding of how college kids date these days.

Still... Pretty mortifying for the kid. I wonder if he gets any interest if the identities come out in the news and he gets national attention...
