I think you have to go like "hAsBl0w" for people to be able to tell you're being stupid in a parodic manner. Or blue text. Otherwise, the default assumption is that you're being a baby.

Not aiming this directly at you perse, but it is relevant to the discussion at hand:

People in general tend not to recognize how much three dimensions effects the math.

You think that 9" compared to 12" isn't that big a deal.

But if we took Jetfire, and shrunk him down proportionately, then that means that not only do we take off 25% of his height, but his width and depth also have to decrease in the same manner.

    H x D x W = volume
0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 = ~42.2%. A proportional loss of just 25% means that the toy is only ~40% the size of its larger counterpart, or 60% smaller.

That's rather a far cry from "not a big deal".

I was generous to give you 50%, on the fact that the FH Monsterbots are rather girthy, wide dudes. Doesn't change the fact that you're opting for 50% of the toy at a 35% markup.

Following previous discussions we've had on the subject, economics of scale generally dictate that 3P can't hope to compete on prices with official on the mass-market, Generations-type stuff on hard value (perceived value is an entirely different story). Prices will converge quite a bit as we head into the official collector-market stuff like Masterpiece, but Jetfire here is not that.

You don't know it's exact measurements, still the height difference is small, he has better articulation, paint apps and diecast.

Jetfire looks fantastic all around, definitely going to be picking him up. I\'ve  always had a soft spot for Jetfire, definitely in my top 5 favorite Autobots. Brunt looks really great too but I doubt I\'ll get him just because there are so many great figures coming out of Siege and I can\'t afford them all.

Jetfire being almost or a bit expensive than a Titan Class figure? And that\'s w/out any electronic components?

Ultimately, it's your prerogative to buy what you want, but I just laid out all the math for you. 22.5cm is just shy of 9".

MSRP of a Titan Class is $150. Commander Class is supposed to be $80. Trypticon didn't have any electronics, either.

So who here is going to use Siege Jetfire as a stand-in for Masterpiece Jetfire?

They'd probably show it off if there were any, but for now, I guess we assume not.

Generations is not really much of a "gimmick" line. At best, there'll be pop-out guns or something, if that was a trait relevant to the character before.

I wonder what's going on behind Jetfire's head.

Are we talking about the hinged doors on his backpack?

I was theorizing in another thread that, since that hatch seems to be in an impractical location for any other fuctionality, it might simply wind up being where his head goes in vehicle mode, with the doors folding in to cover the hole.

I was thinking about it, but if he is anywhere near $175 I'll just pay the $60 to $100 more to get the Fanstoys take on the character.

Any word on potential powerlink functions on Jetfire?
