boys will be boys I just put a tiny piece of tissue paper underneath the crease in his neck. Fixed any wobble. My breakdown didn't have any paint problems and was fine out of box but Henry still feels like a much higher quality. Apologies for the bad camera.
So did they make a second batch of breakdown with good paint or you just got lucky?? LoL when you see them like this it really shows how good the DX9 ones look, its like MP to Hasbro
I don't think so, I have a later batch and he's still sub par. I think people just have different levels of expectations. The blue paint wears quite easily and the difference between white painted and plain plastic is very obvious. People have said theres has no two tone whites but no one who said that has ever posted a picture. Suggesting they either dont exist or those people dont see it as a problem. Whilst Henry is a better figure, I wouldn't say he's drastically better. To blame the factory seems a bit suspicious to me because DX9 Carry, Richtofen & Gabirel were all pretty solid. Montana comes along with peeling paint, loose joints and awful white paint matching and yet it's the factories fault.... I just don't think it went through a final round of changes between the final samples and the production run. Just to add, Gabriels ratchets are not a sign of a bad factory but bad design, thats on DX9 not the factory
I got Henry from ShowZ today and while I haven't transformed him (I never transform anything) I did examine him in alt-mode pretty carefully and the paint seems perfect. He's got a nice heft to him too. It's a shame that Breakdown came first with this set and had the most QC/paint issues because he's my favorite Stunticon, but Wildrider is definitely a step up in both respects and I'm delighted that DX9 is going in the right direction with this set. I'm definitely on board for the rest and as far as I'm concerned FT will have to pull off a miracle to beat these guys as the definitive Stunticon set for collectors, similar to Zeta's for the Aerialbots/Combaticons. As far as timing of the releases goes, Zeta's got a 2-0 lead and who knows, they might even get Motormaster to market before FT releases their first. Also, I know there are a lot of complaints about the partsforming nature of DX9's Menasor, as he's basically built entirely off of Motormaster, but to me, that's perfect and really the only way to design the figure to be at all toon accurate. If I was a designer, I'd have done the same thing.
Yeah it’s interesting how Henry is quite a bit denser/heavier considering they’re the same size and he lacks any diecast. I don’t mind parts forming at all it would impossible to do a Menasor without it. And the fact it’s mostly from the trailer it should be pretty solid. The one thing I’ve been thinking about is the legs. So since we’ve seen a mostly grey prototype, I was assuming that the legs were going to be colored to match the robot modes of the leg bots (like the toy) but I was looking at shots from the cartoon and the legs were completely grey. Grey like the cartoon would make a sleeker robot, but I wonder if it may look a little plain.
Slight correction. His rims are diecast. Not that it changes anything just thought i would let everyone know.
Montana's heels are floppy. Henry's head is a little wobbly but besides that everything else is good on both. Love Henry's transformation, better than Montana's. Got both from show z.
On a whim, I preordered Zeta’s Silverbolt. Completely forgot about it until I was charged by BBTS, said “F it” and got the rest of the team, well as much as I could(Fireflight is on 2nd release preorder). So I have to have a Menasor to face off against Superion. I think I’m in for DX9 as well but I kinda want to see Zeta’s Stunticons except I’m sure it will be after the Predaking release.
it's been said somewhere in the jungle of the zeta bruticus, superion, and or toyword constructor threads that zeta isn't doing a mensaor. or at least anytime soon. i'd personally hope not because there's enough competition as is.
I took a hobby knife and slid a tiny piece of tissue paper under his neck. Cant see it and fixed the wobble. Lazy man fix for sure but i dont feel like taking anything apart lol.
I ended up taking the pin out, drilling out the pin hole about 1mm deeper, and reseating. Rock solid now.
I'm baffled as to why the XTB Stunticons don't have this feature. This feature is the trend on Takara MP as well as 3P MP carbots/carcons. It was a missed opportunity for XTB.
