Transformers Universe was one of the most fun games I've ever played, and the characters were a breath of fresh air to the Transformers lore within the sea of Optimus Primes, Megatrons, Bumblebees, etc. etc. Sadly those characters may never be used again, especially not in toy form. So I decided to do something about that myself. This is Macro. Still a work in progress but I'm overall happy with the results so far. Just need to touch up vehicle mode where my masking wasn't perfect, then add details like headlights, and then I can move on to robot mode. Only thing missing is a new headsculpt.
I've finally gotten a chance to sit down and do a bit of touching up on Macro's vehicle mode. I also added details like the headlights, front grill, and taillights (though the red is hard to see with the bright Competition Orange. I may go over with a darker red. Or do a black outline around them.) I also painted the rear window with gloss turqoise but I'm not sure I like how it came out, I just had the color on hand for another (TFU related) project and wanted to try it. May go over it with a silver when I get a chance to buy some. Also I realize now that Macro's bumper actually was black. For some reason I had in my mind that there wasn't any black on the rear of his vehicle mode. So that's another thing I'll need to add later. For now I'm waiting for this paint to dry properly before I move on to trying to paint his robot mode. Lastly, I've been in talks with Treadshot A1 to commission him to 3d model me a new head for this guy as well as his laser rifle (and other weapons for other projects). This project is taking me a good bit longer than I expected due to work, but I think it will be worth it in the end.
It made it to open beta. I was fortunate to be invited into the closed beta so I had extra time to experience it. But months after going into open beta they announced it was being shut down.
They could always make a War For Cybertron battle royale game. Imagine being able to transform and fight around a huge map!
Work began on the robot mode tonight but I only had time to get to his arms, which could still use another coat. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get more done. Here he is standing alongside two other TFU projects I have lined up, Overclock (currently only his new Shapeways chest has been painted, haven't started on the rest of the body just yet) and Meltdown (only some parts swapped between Beast Hunters Ratchet and the First Aid repaint of Prime Ratchet. I've got a bit of a snag with his legs due to the pins, but I don't plan on working on him in earnest for a bit anyways so I have time to get better acquainted with removing them.) I also have a figure on the way to serve as a base for Doubletake, and have a plan for Drive-By but I plan on using Prime First Edition Cliffjumper for him and that can be a pricy figure to get a hold of.
I remember someone was working on something like that, but last I heard they were able to get a single player experience working and then quit working on it for some reason. I don't think they ever released their work, sadly. I think they got worried about backlash from Hasbro and/or Jagex over it.
Well, apart from a new head and a few more little details to touch up on I think I'm ready to call Macro done. I'm thrilled with how he's turned out. Really feels like I have a piece of Transformers Universe in my collection now. I'm looking forward to my next project: Overclock.
