This Star Convoy, Galaxy Convoy, and Armada Prime, make me feel a lot more confident that we will indeed, eventually, have a contemporary Generations Star Saber figure. Just a matter of time I think.

I have a strong suspicion it’s coming in WFC part 2.

Ditto. And just think... that will mean in the last few lines we'll have had: Primal, Rodimus, Armada Prime, Star Convoy, Galaxy Convoy, and Star Saber. We also had a Ginrai... but I still hold out hope they'll retool the PotP mold one more time and do a proper Ginrai with the cab in the chest gimmick lol.

Agreed. It’s easy to complain about a bunch of things, but as someone who remembers an era when there were no G1 (or even vehicle) inspired releases, it’s fair to say that fans have never had it this good. Irrespective of your preference, there’s something for you.

I’m quite excited for the rest of WFC, although I have no idea where I’ll put everything. I would like to see them mix in some new characters among rehashes though.

I really am not missing out.
Siege being the first badly compromised line since Universe is allowing me to buy some great third party figures.

Siege is only badly compromised because of your perspective on it, it’s actually one of the highest quality mainlines we’ve had in a long time

Hell, I don't like Siege (I hate the near constant retread of G1 especially for a line that started out as a modern update to it, the near slavish G1 bot modes, badly done "weathering," ugly over done greebling, and the completely boring altmodes for G1-sake) but even I can see that Siege is a huge improvement over the last ten years or so of Generations. I just hope they take these improvements and roll them into future lines (and other TF series figures....).

Siege is a lot of things (a return to articulation and paint usage nearly common on figures in 2010, better sculpts, better designed), it has faults but it's not "badly compromised" or anything else ridiculous like that. Saying so is just disingenuous.

Not from where I am sitting. Too small and badly painted. Easy pass for 80% of the line. THe new Armada Optimus seems bigger than Siege Prime, plus the new film version of Prime is miles better. Taller and better paint. Hasbro really dropped the ball with this. I am mainly just buying the Micro/Targetmasters and characters we haven't had out for a while (Like Omega Supreme). Jetfire looks great (no silver paint?) too. I am also glad I passed on the awful POTP OP, as the Star Convoy remold seems a more logial use for it. I am sure, if a Delta Magnus repaint of UM, and similar recolours of the Seige molds come out, I might get them. Such minor characters will be fine in such "minor" (i.e., small) molds.

I'm just happy everyone in the fandom is getting a little something right now, for the 35th anniversary. Beast Wars (MPs, and last year Generations somewhat,) G1 (MPs & Generations,) movie fans (BD collection release, MPs, Studio Series,) Cybertron/Galaxy Force (Generations,) Armada (Generations,) Micromaster (Generations,) and mainline (Cyberverse - I know not everyone is a fan, but that's true for literally every line.) Even some RiD/Car Robots semi-nods.

It feels like a very rich tapestry and a great nod to fans from almost every era. The only eras really missing feel like Animated, Prime, and Energon. And I think that's probably more for stylistic reasons than anything else. Hard to fit them into Generations (though I believe it could be done,) so that really only leaves mainline (which doesn't generally do homages like that) and MP or reissues. Which seem unlikely except for the latter.

It really is a fantastic time to be a TF fan isn't it? Me and my wallet are on the outs over this but it'll get over it. :)

Yesterday, I spent three hours with a Siege toy and a pair of Prime Wars toys. The Siege toy is definitely a good toy, but the hubbub about some large gap in quality seems pretty exaggerated. Will probably take out some Voyagers for more comparisons, considering Deluxes are ~$5 more than PW Deluxes and the same amount less than PW Voyagers were in my area.

Now, Ultra Magnus and by extension Cybertron Prime here I can tell is worth the fuss. Picking him up and looking at Magnus in the box as well as handling Hound gives me the impression that we are in for a chunky toy with sturdy joints.
I would be in favor of them doing stylized updates of Animated Megatron, Prowl, Wreck-Gar and Blackarachnia similar to what they did here for Galaxy Force Optimus. Animated/Prime Bulkhead too.

But the Transformers franchise is still pretty homogeneous at the moment. Most series are left with vehicle mode/single-toy homages. Any piece of media at the moment is visually rehashing G1, including the movies (although at least Studio Series is still sticking with mostly '07-'11 designs.)

I hope you do have some sense of when your own standards might be getting a tad bit too high. Good luck with your collecting.

Agreed. For one, the paint on them is pretty good and a big step up from Prime wars. If he means "battle damage" then that's a completely different thing.

I can see that happening, though that would mean recognizing IDW Thunderwing since he was the most popular recent character using the armor gimmick.

Imagine the armor just being his Ultra Mode.

Dang it!!! I know people are excited about this Prime...I got directed here because I was lamenting on the Siege UM page how much I liked the cab and wished they would do a Prime repaint. They did...but also a retool (a good one) but I will admit to being kinda sad all that made the UM inner vehicle mode so cool wasn't given to Prime. I know lots of folks are going to eat this Prime up and I'm not mad at them.
