For me, one of the iconic things about Optimus Prime was his transformation on the show and original toy. I always picture his arms folding in and out on the sides. I loved that in MP1 and am a tad disappointed that this toy over complicates that aspect.

 

One of my favorite things about this MP, is how they did try to end up with the arms and hands sort of in a position reminiscent of the original toy. It obviously can't be exactly the same, but the shoulders fold back similarly, and the forearms end up bent into the same L shape, and the hands end up inside of those. It's not perfect obviously, and the arms end up covered by the side panels, but I love that they tried.

 

I think I'm gonna use the S1 head as well!

 

Just added another 5,000 Yen to my AJP account. Still unsure if I'll be able to get him when the time comes, but I figure if I can't... at least there's a nice store of money on my account for other stuff I might want or need, built up little by little. It's not like a lot of the things I want/need can't be bought on the site after all lol. (And while I know not everyone likes him, I'm definitely going to get the new MP Bee on AJP as soon as he goes up too, so it works for that too.)

 

I like the turret release button on the back of the stem. Great work. Thanks for being our eyes. I’m happy I ordered two Primes.

 

Man looking back on this that backpack doesn’t look that bad. Honestly it’s just a tidy little pack and it’s handled very well.

Bit of a bummer if his antennae are plastic and mobile, but just a minor disappointment. Still so great seeing new shots of him!

 

The battle damaged face and parts are never going to be on my MP-44. That is just too many feels that I don't want to have.

Good point! Die-cast would be nice there to make sure they never get bent...and while I'd rather they be immovable, maybe the rotation will allow them to push away from my clumsy fingers rather than stab them  

 

I think they're unpainted blue plastic in these shots. Take a look at how they have some translucency to them. They'll be painted over in the final product, but hopefully they'll switch back to die cast, too. I'd be shocked, though, seeing as how some of Megatron's parts got hollowed out between his promo shots and his final product (still my favorite MP I own, though!).

 

I wonder if this could be among the "slight design changes" @Phamduc mentioned?

 

Yeah, could be, brother. There've been plenty of slight to drastic tweaks in this line from reveal to release so it wouldn't be anything new, from MP-03 Starscream's overhaul by Kawamori to MP-21 Bumblebee's ears getting rounded, Ultra Magnus' inner legs going blue, even to a few of Megatron's parts getting hollowed out. Hopefully whatever changes are happening are to ensure we get the best figure possible, free of any major qc issues like Dinobot's shoulder.

 

Yeah, definitely hope it's all QC tightening stuff, both to get the highest possible quality, and because I fear the thought of any artistic changes being made to that beautiful sculpt!

 

God that back pack seem to look bigger and bigger with each new photo. Still doesnt do enough to put me off though. All the front facing photos look amazing!

Seriously this thread and MP 45, is filled with the same people echoing the same criticisms over and over again, nothings changed in the 48hrs since they've bitched about the same thing. Everyone has a voice, but before you bitch...are you adding anything of value that hasn't already been bitched about before? or are you just adding to your post count?
