for the the problem instead is the size of the carbots, not ironhide XD but again thats personal preference, anyway, i still think it is a pretty good mpm figure, but for the quality control, yeah, the price is not exactly that good
Personally, screen accuracy takes a back seat for me. If I have two toys of the same character and the less screen accurate one has more articulation, is more solid in each mode, has a better transformation, maybe more, but inaccurate, detail, is bigger and/or less fragile... I'll take the less accurate one.
Yeah, as I've said in a few MPM threads the problem is with the carbots but I think it's better to oversize anything that's not a carbot rather than undersizing the carbots. Undersizing them could cause problems with their designs as their engineering is intended to function at a certain physical scale or size, while oversizing bigger MPMs wouldn't cause the same issues as they can easily be amended. Also carbots will have more releases than the bigger bots until they've done them all, so it makes most logical sense to just oversize the minority of the MPMs than undersizing the majority. Besides, who wouldn't want big toys anyways? I mean, for me an OS MPM-08 wouldn't fit in my cabinet... for now. I agree, they should take more liberties with making inaccuracies to make a much more functional figure. I say this as a displayer as well, I still respect players and if they're unhappy with a result they reserve the right to criticize the figure for its playability since that's what these are for primarily beyond display.
My TT Ironhide just arrived. The shoulders are.. decent; the left one becomes loose when I move the arm around but otherwise it's still poseable and stays in place quite well even if I start shaking the figure which is good enough for me since I mostly care about displaying. The right one is a bit better. The arm panels won't tab in at all but they're solid enough and won't flop around even with the cannons attached. Nothing new basically. He is gorgeous and fun to look at though. P.S: my copy seems to have a deep scratch just above the front grill, anyone else got this problem?
I don’t have MPM-6 but my MPM-3 has a similar scratch/dent but you can only see it in car mode, fortunately I display my bots in bot mode. I can’t wait to get MPM-6 myself, not a great figure by any stretch of the imagination but he makes a nice display piece if anything else. Good on you for appreciating his, uh, presence - I do the same with my figures now that I mention it.
Glad you agree. A figure as complex as this one shouldn't be expected to be perfect and since that's all we get for now we might as well enjoy it for what it is. I have noticed the denting on other few copies in different reviews, in the same spot and just as bad more or less. I hope it's not the same pattern with mpm-3 because he's next on the list. As for mpm-4.. I'm going to wait for the black apple release even if KO's aren't usually my thing; the official one has too many inexcusable flaws for the price it's asking. Quality control issues are one thing, but releasing a half painted figure and calling it masterpiece it's just too much.
I disagree. Compromises are for mainline figures. This is the MPM line, intended for collectors and meant to be the most screen accurate versions of the characters. We've already had over ten years of compromised Ironhides for things like playability and gimmicks, so choose one of those if you want something that can be handled more. I want ONE damn figure who actually looks like the movie as much as possible. I'm not saying this figure is perfect, but when it comes to looking like the movie, they did a really great job. Not to mention that if it weren't for the QC issues, this one WOULD be very playable too! As it stands it's really just the arms that keep him from being the best Ironhide figure ever in every way.
Ugh so the package arrived on wednesday, but the mail person didn't deliver it and instead left a slip. I went TWICE to the post office to try and get it and TWICE they told me it hadn't arrived off the undelivered mail truck yet. Yesterday I was busy so I have to pick them up tomorrow. I'll of course post pics right away, although they come in a generic white plastic so I'll be spraying them silver and black ASAP.
Alright then I should be getting mine soon. Capcom told me it’d be here soon. And yes I gotta spray paint it too. Let me know how the build quality is when you receive it. Should be reasonably strong
The guns Ironhide used in DOTM and a brace for the hood halves. Both designed by Tim(?) and sold by Capcomkai.
Got em! So badass and I actually prefer them to the cannons. Plus the back mount makes it so much more fun to have display options! I might drill small holes into his default cannons so they can store too. I am happy to say that if you give capcomkai your money he WILL deliver! Came as three 3D printed pieces plus the metal rods for the back mount. They came in white but I plan to spray them metallic black and add silver highlights with maybe a little gold: You have to transform the back differently to get the mount on. It's not hard to figure out: Here he is with them back mounted. I think I might display him like this since shelf space is tight. However he looks totally badass with them in his hands too! I really wish he had come with these in the first place. I think they learned their lesson with accessories though, since MPM Megatron and Jazz are coming with a lot more than the others have. If you have had a good experience with your Ironhide and want that extra badassery then I highly recommend these! He's also selling shoulder and arm tab stabilizers. The only reason I didn't get them is cause the shipping would have increased dramatically to have them all in one box. Enjoy and tell me what you think! I'll be posting more pics once I've painted them.
He shipped my chest locking piece out today, so hopefully I’ll get it soon! Guns look good, show more pics when you paint them up
Sprayed my new Heavy Iron guns black! Just gotta add some silver detailing to them and they will be complete. Also, I sprayed the back mount pegs by accident and now they can't mount on his back haha gotta sand them down now! What an idiot I am... Once these are done I'm gonna really wish I hadn't sold my berserker and crowbar. I just want them again for the mexican standoff scene then I want to sell them again but it's not worth it
