Well, if you're making modifications just for the fun of it that's a different story.

I think I'm over Hoodlem. May be the first Hot Rod I skip. Just seems like alot of problems. Looks like FT dropped the ball on this one. Paint chip would really annoy me.

This guys needs a new neck peg. He is a pretty good figure but it looks like his head is sitting on his body with no neck. Not sure if fanstoys could create a replacement part considering how it is connected to the figure but I'd really like it they did something.

and it isn't like fanstoys has provided new parts in the past, so maybe it will happen

Absolutely. A new neck joint or head, maybe new shoulder joints, hood replacement....all viable options. I'm sure FT has heard enough feedback on this figure and knows where most of the criticism lies. Just need to be patient. Wait til CNY celebrations are done and things go back to status quo. In FT I trust.

Couldn't a piece be designed for that part of the chest transformation where you have to rotate the piece 360*? To me it seems like a simple piece could be made and installed so instead of just turning it, you would instead lift that piece up/out giving you clearance to rotate with the worry of damaging the paint. From what I've read and seen that area is one of the more problem areas with little room for error.

It's not the transformation that does it, the lip of the bonet sits very flush to the flat of the top of the waist. Because the arms are connected to the bonet, any movement of them can cause small adjustments in position and cause the rubbing.

A new head rather then neck is a better solution. You cant replace the neck with out removing pins

Still seems like little room for error. I bet if they made the transformation more simple and streamlined it would have resolved that issue. I was going to pick him up but after all the issues I've seen people having think I will just have to stick with TT mp for now. Shame too because they nailed it on their Kup. I hope another company can do a better job and not make him look all stylized like dx9 carry. Trying to recreate the scene from the movie against the horde of sharkticons.

Carry isn't stylised...he's just not based on toon G1. He's based on studio ox which is still G1.

He won't fit in a toon display though

If anything, Hoodlum has had an outsized impact on my collection; a week with him in the house prompted me to offload him, Koot, Rouge, Apache and Sovereign on eBay. My TFTM shelf is practically gone.

Maybe that's putting too much blame on Hoodlum, but as the latest (and one of the most extreme) examples of Fanstoys' penchant for producing "shelf queens" that do little more than look good and be heavy, he was the proverbial straw. It's just not what I want or need out of my collection.

I'm still looking forward to F/T's Skullcruncher, but I'm steering clear of their smaller bots until they can figure out how to engineer them properly.

Yea I have a bunch of FT figures and my one gripe with them is that you think they would know their stuff by now after how many figures they have done. It's like every 6th release is a flop. They just get to carried away with complex transformations, less is kore imo and will make for a better figure.

I love their version of seaspray and reflector I'm looking forward to their warpath. But I'm starting to get into companies more now that learn the above lesson and improve like fans hobby,dx9, TH factory, xtransbot, ocular max.

My biggest gripes with hoodlum are the neck and shoulder shoulder joints. Those parts annoy me so much!
