Probably Takara or Hasbro shareholders. They know it would probably sell better than 2nd string characters like Trailbreaker or Hoist.

Well that should satisfy all those who harp on about how bland the toon designs are and need more panel lining. :)

In takaras defense, masterpiece bumblebee version 1 was a great figure it just looked weird considering the limited articulation, so that in mind I am interested of seeing how this will look also the back of the figure wasn't accurate at all so the back would be completely redesigned.

Well that's the beauty about aesthetics and likes. You don't have to fathom it, it's all subjective. Odds are there are ppl out there that think what you like looks like shit too but if that's your thing then what does it matter?

Although you're jumping the gun a bit here. We have no idea at all what this is gonna look like yet.

Oh damn! Again?! I am sick and tired of TT right now. The same pattern over and over again. Redesign a figure to look as basic as possible because of a badly drawn animation in the 80s, cram it full of unneccesary accessories that noone can possibly use and, finally, inflate the price to illogical levels! F@ck!

Oh for sure the paint and finish is still impressive, not gonna argue that, but the overall 'look' that the paint and finish is going for with its simplified paint schemes and neon blue windows and glass is one that still looks comparatively 'cheaper' to something with more realistic detail and finish regardless of how much effort went into it. I think the prices pretty fairly reflect the effort put in, I'm just not convinced that effort isn't misplaced.

I see the cycle is going strong. Takara (pretty much) announce a new figure and the first 64 pages are ppl complaining how they hate the cartoon look and spend time and effort in deriding it with witty pics and how no one should like what they don't.

    Fun times!

    Roll on actual pics.

I can see a circle here.

Takara announce a new Transformers and lovers love until Takara announce a new version of the same character and lovers do what they do just love but suddenly lovers start to complain about the first version of the character, suddenly lovers don't love.

    It is so funny :D

What a fucking joke. The price is an absolute pisstake, for starters. Those human figures are still complete trash (apparently Kobayashi thought what they needed was a ball-jointed torso, hence the shitty "improvements" on the MP-44 humans, despite still not having painted faces), and MP Bumblebee is perfectly fine. Sure, he's got some issues (none that I personally care about, mind you), but he's fine. He's a good figure.

It's like TakaraTomy are trying to not only erase almost everything Hasui did for the Masterpiece line but take a shit on the fans while they're at it.

And the really sad part is that you know people will buy it. The same people who mindlessly pre-ordered MP-44 already and keep telling everyone how it's perfect despite looking like shit with panels everywhere and a giant backpack and despite not having been released yet. It'll sell out and they'll think it's a good idea to more of this.
As has already been said, they know Bumblebee will sell better than, say, Trailbreaker and Hoist, so of course they'll make Bumblebee instead. And really, that's the only way I can see them justifying these exorbitant prices - they have to make popular characters, else nobody will buy them for this price.

I was trying to buy every Masterpiece mould at least once because I loved the Masterpiece line. I'm the guy who even loves MP-5 (even if he isn't something I'd recommend to anyone), and the same person that bought that giant turd (and still, in my opinion, the worst Masterpiece figure to date) that is Masterpiece Tracks, simply because I like Tracks and waited years for a good Tracks figure.
I'm also the one who gave them the benefit of the doubt on their myriad QC issues (despite a pattern eventually emerging where they've only got worse with their paint issues) and the lacklustre showing of MP-28 before release (whom I ended up liking a lot more in person).

But honestly, at this point, with the drastic change in direction recently, such as with that piece of shit Sunstreaker (I don't care what anyone says, that figure sucks, and no amount of loose butterfly joints can save it from being a fiddly, overpriced mess with a big backpack and paint/chrome issues), and stuff like MP-44 or how they somehow are the ONLY company to get Hound's shoulder cannon completely wrong (even Universe/Henkei Hound got it right), I think I'm finally done with TakaraTomy's shitty excuse for "Masterpiece" Transformers.
I think this is where I finally turn fully to third-party companies for Masterpiece-style-and-scale figures, because TakaraTomy have just gone off the deep end. I guess losing the Pokemon license made them go completely insane.

I'm sure someone will tell me how I'm wrong etc. etc. (no but seriously, fuck Sunstreaker, it's awful, and I don't care to be told otherwise) but I don't care. Even with the worst that TakaraTomy have offered with the Masterpiece line, I've tried to be reasonable, but between the QC issues my official figures have (QC issues that some knock-offs don't have), design flaws that could easily be worked around (look at how easy it was for Shadow Fisher to fix Ironhide and Ratchet's hip flaps - and I'm personally fine with the hip flaps but COME ON, it was an easy fix!) and their slow price crawl, I was still supporting it.
But now... I think I'm done, unless they manage to turn this line around and make it worth a damn again.

Honestly, while there's definitely good things about MP Bumblebee I feel like overall he's only really halfway to being a true MP. I don't know if it's the scale, the materials or the engineering but he feels kind of sub-premium. There's definitely room for improvement IMO.

(Personally I wish they'd made the minibot scale a bit bigger, I think the size is limiting and I don't like how out of place he looks in vehicle mode, but I'm sure that's not a very popular opinion so I'm not holding my breath.)

So you understand the work but you don’t take any value in it. Fair.

I have an idea of how this is going to transform:
the chest is going to be completely hollow, and the back of the car is going to fold up in there, which the robot back is going to be made parts of it, so when it transforms, fold the robot back down to the legs and fold out the back of the car

then the legs shrink down and transform forming the front of the car, while the arms fold into either the back of the car or into the chest.

Nobody ..... nobody could see this coming. I am sure of it.

    MP-47 Starscream Remake.

MP-60 Megatron V3. And on and on and on. I bet you Hasui himself will soon get sick of this shit and join FansToys.

So $120 + 30% discount = $84. I really hope Spike is a better figure than just a helmetless version of the one coming with MP-44.

Why? FT is not on any real track at the moment with the shoddy QC they have been putting out as of late. The green QC stickers are a smoke screen for the FT loyalists to suck up.

EDIT Hasui is probably working on things like Siege and SS, and thats one of the reason those are so solid.

What's Hasui got to do worth anything? He hasn't been part of the MP design team for years.
